I'm sure I've mentioned this in previous threads, but my father was in the Army, so I spent a good portion of my life (roughly 16 years). I spent the greater part of my adolesence, from age 7 to 13, living in Germany. Not in government housing either (save about 2 years), rather on "the economy," as it was called (German neigborhoods for the rest of you).
The place I remember most vividly is Leimen, a suburb of Heidelberg, mostly because I was old enough to be able to wander around the town by myself. Sadly, digital cameras weren't available then, so I had to scour Google to pull these up. |

So many great places. Here is where I grew up, about halfway between San Francisco and Tokyo. And halfway between Hawaii and Alaska. A great place to live, Midway.

There are two run-ways. They're too short for most modern planes. We had a theater, a bowling alley, all kinds of craft shops, one TV station that was on the air from about 3 PM until about 9 or 10 PM, depending on what they were showing and mail delivery twice a week! On that same plane they brought new people to the island and took people off. And once a month a ship would come in with supplies for us. Mt. Midway is the highest point on the island (12 ft.) and when I wanted my merit badge for hiking, I had to walk around the island 3 times to get my distance. Oh, and everybody rode bicycles, there were only 6 vehicles on the island.

A combination of paradise, and prison EH How many girls your age lived there when you grew up? I have about a thousand other questions. Was what was happening in the rest of the world irrelevant to you? Are there any indegenous people there? Did they have a limit to how many people can live there? I would guess that boating was popular there. What the hell did you wear? I'm going to be thinking about this for days.

Well I mentioned that I had never been to Virginia but had family there. As it turns out I may be spending 12 weeks there in the future.
