Later this year I hope to visit Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest, Prague and maybe a few other places. No dates fixed yet. Mainly just fun, leisure, look around, see whatever's worth seeing. If anyone wants a lecture or just to hang out / session / see some card moves you haven't seen before, please get in touch. ian@ianrowland.com . I'm not saying there's any reason anyone _would_ be interested, and I accept that supreme indifference would be both appropriate and richly deserved. But just in case, the offer is there. Email preferred, rather than messages here on the Café. Love to you all.

Any chance of another performance at Durham university this year Ian? The one a year or two ago is still talked about!

We had the honour of having Ian lecture at one of our Tabula Mentis events. His lecture was stunning and great fun. He has very strong charisma and presence, while his use of methods is excellent. I found his part of the day absolutely compelling. I have also been involved in a charity project and TV project with Ian and he is great to work with.
Best wishes Dr Todd |

If you guys haven't seen Ian lecture before, it is well worth it!
I attended the Taikapäivät in Kouvola (Finland) earlier this year and Ian was a lecturer and performer. not only did he give a very funny and intense performance, he lectured on all the things he did in his show as well! In short, If you can, it's both fun and well worth your time. Plus you'll learn great stuff! He's also a great guy to hang with, and is also fluent in Gflöyisch.

We have hosted Ian in Istanbul Turkey as the Magic Fraternity...
Lecture was perfect, all the information he shared and his personality have no match... Now we are thinking when can we host him next time. Except the magic lecture and his materials... He is a hard man in the begining but once you earn his trust he is doing anything to support you and your magic organisation... So if you want to have a star lecture for your club... Ian is the answer. Best Wishes Berk Eratay |

Like Micke already told, Ian was in Finland couple months ago and he made two lectures and a great show. Everyone who has seen him to do a lecture about a mentalism knows that it´s funny and full of great routines and ideas. But I think there are not so many who has seen him doing lecture with cards. That´s sad, because Ian has very good and fresh ideas for card magicians.

This is turning into an Ian fan club posting - and quite right, too. I've been to a few lectures in my time, but I can honestly say Ian's are the ones I have always enjoyed most - by a mile. Apart from the fact he's a nice bloke, his knowledge is remarkable. He will do one effect, which leaves you floored... and then go on to explain how it was done step-by-step. These explanations are NEVER mundane, OR what you expect! By the time I#'m getting THAT one sorted out in my head and grinning at the genius of it - he's on to the next one! he gives far too much away. If you have connections with the magic community in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest or Prague, get in contact with him now. It will be a lecture - experience - hang about and chat session that you will never forget. Guaranteed.

In honestly, Ian is one of the only people I 'go to' for advise. If you've not seen him lecture then you'll see how he has an ability to create entertaining show pieces that devastate audiences. That's what this is all about to me.
Scariest, yet most valuable moment of my career was last year when I was performing my theatre show Subliminalist in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Ian said he would come along and give me notes. And boy did he. Fantastic. And its those notes that whir round my mind every time I put a new piece together. I've not seen this lecture but I'd imagine that, if its anything like our conversations, it'll have ideas that will challenge people, but all based on Mr Rowland's ability to understand what deeply entertains the heck out of paying audiences. Ian - send me the lecture notes - K

OK, I don't need to add further to the trumpeting of Ian's lectures. I've seen three including his lecture at The Castle, which had to be moved to the stage room because attendance was monumental. What is said in posts above is all true and unembellished.
I think it would be best for me to add that in the many weeks I have spent hanging around with Ian in cities all over the West Coast of the US, time spent with Ian has been some of the most fun and adventurous I have had. If Ian is coming to your town to visit, drop him a line, let him know some inside cool stuff to do and places to go. Heck, offer to show him around if you have the time. You will have a blast and make a new life long friend in Ian. Don't be concerned if you aren't a know magic scene guy. If you have local insider ideas of adventures to take, places to eat, things to see in your area, let him know. You will likely be duly rewarded! Have a great trip Ian. I know you will. |

Ian is probably one of the most knowledgeable performers that I know. I love his thinking and his approach to mentalism. If you get a chance to see him lecture I guarantee you'll come away with many practical ideas.

Ian is one of my favourite presenters. Hes engaging, confident, intelligent and cultured.
If you want to inject some inspiration and energy into an evening, ask Ian to stand up and talk. You can even put a lightbulb in between his mouth and he will eat it. More than that he's very open and loves travelling and people dearly. Look after him where you can. You want be disappointed. |

To everyone who has come here and said nice things about me, thank you.
Just by way of explanation... I love travelling and certainly don't mind undertaking entire trips by myself. I've done this on one or two occasions, no problem. However, I find that wherever I happen to be in the world, meeting and hanging out with magicians tends to be good fun and hugely enjoyable. Sometimes it's just informal (find a coffee shop, share stories, get the cards out... ); on other occasions I get invited to do a lecture or take part in a convention. Whatever the involvement, I always enjoy it, because I love this community and the mindset we share. Hence I felt it wasn't too unforgivably indulgent to just start a thread and ask 'Anyone wanna say hi?'. Thanks again for all the kind words.
