I wanted to see who had better prices: Balloon Merchant or La Rocks. I submitted an order for 11 bags of 100 count balloons to both sites.
Here are the results Balloon Merchant…………$78.12 ($61.68 + $16.44 for Shipping) La Rocks………………………$77.25 ($68.30 + $8.95 for Shipping) Conclusion: Balloon Merchant has the lowest prices, but charges more for shipping. La Rocks has higher prices, but charges less for shipping. It really doesn’t matter who you order your balloons from, you will still pay roughly the same amount. Since I live in NC, and have been satisfied with La Rocks for years, I will probably stick with them. Hope this helps you make sound financial decisions. |

If you are buying large quantities of balloons, why not apply for a wholesale account through Loftus? Great service, super prices!

If you order over 150 bucks worth of balloons and get free shipping from larocks. there is no cheaper place to buy, however if you were to only buy 1 bag from larocks the shipping starts at 7.95. lol. there are places that give discounts if you order more balloons, but, once the free shipping comes into play, again no one can beat larocks!!!

Thanks for all the input! I will shoot for a $150 order next time and compare La Rocks with Balloon Merchant. We'll see if Free Shipping beats a 5% discount. I will check out BalloonArtMart and Loftus as well.

If I don't need $150 worth of balloons, I supplement my order with a balloon DVD or two. I'm sure that's LaRock's intent -- to entice you to buy things you don't necessarily need. But it's a marketing strategy that works on me!

This topic seems to pop up on this forum more than anything else. One place may be a few dollars cheaper than another, but in the end it is usually not enough to really matter. I would rather pay a few dollars more to support a company that supports the balloon community. For example, T. Myers may not be the cheapest but their prices are comparable, and they produce the TJam on The Road lecture tour as well as sponsoring several balloon, magic, and clown conventions each year.
Continental Sales not only provides classes to their local customers but they also invest a lot of money into their Private Reserve Line, a line of special printed balloons for both twisters and decorators that are only available through them. They also support many ballon conventions around the country. As if that were not enough, Lorinda from Continental Sales is also very involved in the balloon industry and was a key player in stopping the California balloon ban a few years ago. That is also why I support Qualatex. Aside from the fact that I really do prefer their colors and quality, they invest significantly more money and resources into both the twisting and decorating community world wide than anyone else in the industry. Performers are constantly whining about customers who only care about price. Perhaps we should show the same respect to the people we buy from that we wish for ourselves.

I've used Balloon To You out of Texas for a long time. They used to have the best prices (that I knew of), but I haven't compared rates in a long time. http://www.btydirect.com/index.html . You have to place the order by phone, no minimums.

Hello,
It is not only about price and service but the product availability. You can get great price but if they do not carry the various types of balloons that you use such as 660, LOL, and the various prints it really does not matter. It they are constantly out of stock of the product you need then it really does not matter how nice or have a low price. I realize that once in a while a store will be out of something and I can usually wait a few days till they get it in stock. I have had great success with both LaRocks and Continental Sales. I was a long time loyal customer of a store in Texas until they did not treat me as a customer multiple times and have moved on. These discussions are good so one can be informed of the options available. Regards, R |

There prices are 25 percent MORE than balloon merchant and that's before the 5 percent discount balloon merchant gives. Not sure how they can call this wholesale prices because they are expensive. Regarding service. Balloon Merchant has been helping the balloon world and our community since 1965. Joe the owner is fantastic. |
