Did you all check out the puppet, actually, marionette, video link on Clinton's blog yesterday - I loved it.
I have a couple of marionettes I play around with now and then, but watching one in 'action' in the hands of someone actually skilled in using them is just so cool and fun to watch.
Anyway, for those who might have missed it, here's the link to the video;

Blueshawk1,

I took the time yesterday to call the entire staff in to see this video. We were all in awe that both the performer and the "mechanisms" that gave life to the charactor. Now I wish I had not done it, because a couple of our folks are now wanting to start playing around with Marionettes instead of staying focused on their current task.

If you noticed from the video, the number of control lines required to give this charactor such life looked like a spider web. It is amazing.

I did notice all those control lines which makes it even more amazing to me.
Personally, with all those lines, I'd have been scared to take it out into the audience like that, I imagine it wouldn't take much to muck up those lines.

I can understand it's affect on a couple of your people, makes me want to dig through my yet unpacked boxes and get mine out, although watching a video like that would make my poor attempts at manipulating a marionette seem even sadder.

That's a fantastic act... and the marionette is amazing. Smile

I have a couple of marionettes in my act made by Frankie (maps) and I can tell that the one in the video is extremely difficult to manipulate.

My sons are also trying their skills in marionettes...

Your welcome, I liked it so much I've watched it more than a few times and saved it on my computer.

Wow, that was great. Reminds me of when I was a kid. I had a Pelham marionette with a movable mouth. I used to sit him behind a box as if he were playing piano and lip sync to old rock songs for my family and friends. Years later I dug him out of the closet in high school for a talent show and had him sing "Big Ten Inch Record" by Aerosmith. A little risque for 11th grade, but everybody got a big laugh out of it. My drama teacher was an older fellow from Germany. I think he got a little choked up seeing a young kid using an older art form. To my surprise I took first place. I still have that little trophy today.
Thanks for posting that blueshawk1.

I'm jealous having seen pictures of his marionettes, and I'm sure they look even better "in person".
I'd love to have one of his marionettes, but I couldn't do it justice as far as using it.

If anyone is interested in Marionettes you have to contact Frankie, his work is fantastic!. I love the first marionette so much that I ordered two more. A few months from now when I become comfortable with the marionette I will post a video to see what you guys think.
