Learned about this dvd recently. A couple of years ago I purchased Marty's "Magic You Can Make" on a lark and was very pleasantly surprised.
Could not find a review here on the Café and was hoping some here who own it might give their thoughts on it. Thanks in advance -
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Received the dvd. Geared toward those who are relatively new to card magic, this is a good dvd, especially for those with a bent for both simple - but good - card magic and making their own gimmicks. Marty mentions more than once on the dvd the benefits getting a foundation in card magic with books like "Royal Road...", and this would be a marvelous complement for anyone who would like to add some gaffed work. The gimmicks presented are quite easy to make - within the reach of almost anyone.

Just going over the dvd again, and the more I watch, the more I enjoy the effects. Marty seems to have a gift that allows him to create gaffed effects that pack more of a punch than the simplicity of the gaffs would seem to indicate at first blush.
Also wanted to make sure I was clear in my post above that I was referring to the DVD as being a marvelous complement to Royal Road (which is marvelous, in itself).

I also feel this is a great DVD and reminds us that many times, simple magic can be the best magic depending the situation, which seems to be an overlooked factor in magic.
And would like to mention that I throughly enjoy Marty's Rainbow Deck dvd, and his teaming up with Rudy Hunter on ESP Deck dvd. His customer service is truly outstanding and promptly responsive! I ordered a set of gaff cards and on a sheet of paper pointed out each effect for the different sets of cards. Overall, I think he is underrated especially having worked closely with the late Frank Garcia. And on an aside, I think many are too quick to jump on the Slam Magic Makers bandwagon - too bad. Plus I needed to chime in before this thread became a living diary of sorts for you. |

LOL. Yes, a good DVD. In the interests of full disclosure, Marty is a good friend of mine so I've seen him do these effects many times over several years, and it's also worth noting that several of them were sold as individual items via Martini's Magic Co. I'd also agree the ESP card DVD was good too. Apparently Marty has several other DVD's still waiting to appear that were filmed some years back. I don't think MM need to wory about flooding the market, that's already happened, so hanging onto stuff serves no real purpose. Unless the intention is to wait and transfer them onto the NEXT new format that comes along.. RE:"reminds us that many times, simple magic can be the best magic depending the situation, which seems to be an overlooked factor in magic." This is true, but lets not forget sometimes it's a skilled performer like Marty that can make the 'simple' stuff look so good |

I assumed I had just missed hearing of them, but it seems perhaps they are, as you say, awaiting release at some future date. I realize these things are business decisions, but I hope it is sooner than later.
