I'm not sure if I was the last person to find this out but David Copperfield has a Twitter! He only has 38k followers so I'm assuming not everyone knows. I was surprised to find out that he tweets quite a bit. Pretty sweet!
If you're a Copperfield nut like me go follow him http://www.twitter.com/d_copperfield - Pretty exciting |

Sorry, but I just don't get the whole "Twitter" thing. Why do people want to read such short (and usually boring) comments, even if they are made by famous people? Does anyone really care if David Copperfield thanks someone who said they enjoyed the show, that he's looking forward to going on tour, or other such comments? Maybe it's my age that is showing, but this just seems like a pretty silly activity.
Can anyone fill me in on what's the big draw? Regards, Steve

Steve-
It's hard to explain - I don't quite get Twitter either. I mean in the old days a celebrity would put out a puff piece in a magazine or send am email to fans, The fact that DC has only 38,000 fans doesn't (to me) make the experience of receiving a "tweet" any more personal. It's still sugar coated propaganda, and there is nothing insider about it - this is not one on one fgs. But if some enjoy the illusion of Twitter being more personal than it really is... well that is magic indeed

Twitting is much like magic.
Out of all the turds, every once in awhile there is a gem. This is why they are short, so you can skim through them very fast until you find the stuff you like. Twitter is just a shortened form of a blog, which is a shortened form of a forum, and that is where you are right now. You want to know what tweeting is about? Start doing it yourself and see. I tried it for a while when it first came out, but my impressions then were the same as now. I guess it's the "minimalist" communication style and (in general) the lack of information provided. I suppose if, as saysold1 suggests, it gives the receiver a more "personal" sense of communication, then I can see, to some extent, the attraction.
Thanks for your replies Regards, Steve
