Keith,
I bought it from a local magic store, and believe it was manufactured by the owner of the store himself who is also a magician. Am not sure if it's available in other countries, haven't seen it in magic catalogues ever since. I could have shared more details with you or maybe send you a sample of the item, we're just not fortunate enough because of the distance - I'm from the Philippines in the Southeast Asia. As of now, I'm making a reorder because the one I bought was already damaged (water seeped in, the seal was not good enough). I suggest you just experiment, the effect is worth the effort. All the best! Dynamite

Thanks Dynamite,
Last night I tore apart an old D'lite that I had laying around. I wrapped it in plastic (because the taste of the battery was not very good) and just like that I have a new part to my show. It is a bit tricky getting it to activate with my mouth, but I think it will work fine. Try it out! Keith

I just recieved these today. I don't like them very much.....maybe because I just got them and I don't know any routines with them....Mine fit perfectly and a very bright(red). I will probably put this into a comcial act, not so much magicial. I love the idea though.

I have gone through at least 4 sets of D'Lites, and always use the red ones. They go well with Fire Ears that I picked up on eBay.
The only reason I replace them, is that I carry them constantly in my pockets and after a while they discolor from coins and pick up ink from pens, but I can clean them and live with that. The biggest reason I replace them is that because they get torqued around in my pockets as I sit or have other items there too, invariably after a few months, the light assembly in one or both will loosen, and end up falling out, or just not being ready. I have tried a couple of ways to reglue it, and found it to be too much work, so I pick up a fresh set and donate my oldies to some youngster starting to get serious about magic. One young guy actually split the D'lites near the opening and Stitched them up so they fit his smaller thumbs better. I thought they might be too visible that way, (the stitches) but we did a routine together at a show where he was in the audience, and he even did a featued bit with his altered D'Lite in a move that he created, and I didn't even see the stitches! I just saw the effect! If you take a bit of time, and develop a routine they can play very well, and I do them on stage and up close. I also add other light base gimmicks, like a laser pointer to send the light scurrying up the wall, the fire ears where each ear can lights up with a remote switch (the closest I get to clowning) and a shot glass that I use to trap the red light under. Upon impact (I come down on a table with it to catch the light) this little glass blinks bright red at the bottom as though it had trapped the light. Then after a short time, the light automatically goes out (15-20 seconds) and I act like it got away, and I begin chasing it on the walls, in the air, etc. I bought the glass at a "dollar store" and should have bought more of them, as other magi have asked me where to get them, but the store I used, only had them once and they are out. My routine is a character lesson, I call "bad thoughts" and the red lights represent "bad thoughts". You try to get rid of them and you can't, or at least you can't do it easily. It take good thoughts, and intentional thinking, and hard work to keep the bad thoughts away. BroDavid

Nice one Bro David. Am interested to know the patter you use for "bad thoughts" if you would be so kind to share. I realize it could be a very good presentation for talks to youngsters and even Gospel magic.
With much thanks, All the best! Dynamite

There are so many uses for these things, I have had mine for about 6 years and they work just a good as the day I bought them. I had a great routine for them however due to the "Magic Zone" making these available to anyone, I am not able to perform with them as often. Usually, I use them in close up settings where it is dim and they show up brilliantly or for holiday shows. The best place to get these is directly from the D'lite because they carry more than just red.

I use to own D'Lites and thought they were quite neat at first. I performed them a couple of times and laymen seemed to really like them. It's just that after a while, I got really tired of performing the D'Lites. I threw it in my box of magic tricks for the longest time. Finally, I just sold them to somebody else who wanted them. that's MY experience with the D'Lites.

I used mine (red) last night a party I was at. No one was expecting me to perform, and the place way dim. There was colorful lighting!! Some DJ lights and some red light bulbs over the dance floor. I danced with my wife under one of the red bulbs and reached up "plucked" a piece of light from the bulb and busted a few moves!! then, put it back where I got it.
I usually start with a laser pointer and shine the laser at the tips of my thumb, index, and middle fingers. I do this for a few seconds and when I take the laser away my D'lite is activated. I then go into my routine. I didn't like the idea of just "plucking" the light from thin air. I have fun and so do all that watch.
In December of '06 I was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans. One in a million people worldwide are diagnosed with this type of cancer annually. Sarcomas account for 1% of all cancers. Knowledge is power!
