All of a sudden, my office staff (that means me!) is coming across several things that may be of interest to you.

In July's "Magic Magazine", there is a review of "Cagliostro's Wand" by Allen Zingg and Blaine Harris. Its a positive review and I will leave it up to you seek it out and read it. But I like this wand. I don't own it ( but will), but Allen was back here in NJ a month or so ago and had one with him. He showed it to several of us at a local diner ( where else? After all this is NJ) and we found it very interesting.

First of all, it is not a typical "magic wand". No not at all. The wand is made of varnished dark walnut, and measures 18" long, about a half inch in diameter at one end tapering to a point at the other. A really nicely made piece. Note that it is made with the magician AND the mentalist in mind.

Why would a mentalist have a wand? Well he/she wouldn't. But he might have a pointer, baton, stick letter opener (depending on your act), etc.

The mentalist can switch billets and load a billet into an envelope. There are also two hardwood billet indices that allow you to steal a billet and load it into the secret compartment in the wand and load into an envelope.

There is a PK device built into the wand. Allen showed us a wonderful find the silver dollar ( or the reverse or that...find the paper dollar) with the wand. The PK element can be removed during performance so it looks like your hands are empty when you do this. In addition, you get an obelisk on which to balance the wand and make it spin.

For those who do seance type presentations, wand could be introduced as a rung from a child's chair found in the room after the child's disappearance...
Or a composer's baton used in conjunction with Lee Earle's Musing Box. Wand laid on top of box. Wand moves and as it does music emanates from box. Wan stops music stops. Box opened nothing inside. Wand opened and an old scrap of paper with some music on it is removed. Wand and box now examinable. Just some more ideas.

The wand comes in a nicely made pouch.

You also get an instructional DVD.

Lots of possibilities with this wand. As I said, its going to be my next purchase.

$90.00 from Allen. For more info, contact Allen at
