Aparantly the only time you have ever been in the real world that thing with Mark Lewis happened. No wonder you like anarchy so much. You will benifit from it.

No, I am saying many like to interpret the law such that it suits what they want in a given situation, and then act on that.
As for the rest of your rambling, I am so unbelievably sick of you bull ****.

As many people are arrested when police simply disapprove of their actions only to have the charges almost immediately dropped?

Lobo beat me to it.
But Glenn, how many is that in real numbers. Give a percentage. Maybe a cop arrests a guy who has charges dropped because of something OTHER THAN (get this) the cop being in competant! Does this ever cross your mind? I doubt it but in the world Glenn this happens. In all candor Glenn, have you ever really traveled the world at all? Ever been out of your own home town for any length of time? I ask a serious question and leave all name calling out of it. I am tring to get a sense of your experience in the world is all. Maybe it will help me to see you in a different light. I am being serious here, not nasty.

Hasn't stopped you from being nasty with me. Or doesn't 40 states, 23 countries, and 4 languages count in your book?

You are joking right? You told me I called you a name I NEVER called you. You said I called you a socialist, and you never backed it up. Then in order to never admit you are wrong, you claim the thread was deleted.
So Chance, you never say anything provocative do you? You call me names, you then claim "it is a title". Then you want to whine and complain about someone being nasty with you? You encourage and deserve it. So no it does not count in the least. You bring it on yourself. You court it. You probably on some level even enjoy it. I honestly think on some level I misunderstand Glenn, and want to try to fix that. It is an honest appeal to get to know the man for who he is beyond an internet avatar. I, and this is just an opinion, believe you are well beyond hope. If I am wrong, please show me. Reach out, try to be more than the sum of your rather obnoxious posts Somehow, I think this will not happen. Hopefully Glenn will see this for what it is.

It would be the first thing on this board to date you have seen for what it is and not what you wanted it to be.

Thanks Danny, I appreciate the sincerity.
I wouldn't even say I have a home town. I've moved about every 3-5 years my whole life. Lived in japan for a brief while when I was a kid. Mostly moved around within southern ontario, parents owned a house out west for a while, but we never really "lived" there long enough to say I lived in alberta. Currently live about an hour west of toronto, with my wife and daughter, which is also about an hour and a half from my parents basement

Thank you for taking that in the true spirit in which I intended it. Seriously.
I had no idea you lived in Japan for ANY length of time. (I never have.) I would have to say I would never have bet such a thing. I was wrong. I am just trying to get a handle on what experiences have brought you to your conclusions. Often (probably always) it is more our experience that brings us to our conclusions. Your conclusions are just a bit off the beaten path. (I am avoiding saying things like "strange" or "odd" as those are judgements and I am not trying to make those.) I was just curious as to what it is that has brought you there. Most often people do not go THAT far astride. Again, I am being serious and not judgemental or name calling.

Don't worry Danny, I'm taking this as truly sincere, and I really do appreciate it.
If your interested in the path my views have taken, so to speak, I used to consider myself VERY liberal, very pro gay rights and the like, though very much against drugs. Not that liberal usually means pro drugs/legalization. I didn't even drink until a few months after my 19th birthday (19 is the drinking age here.) I was raised with the idea that, pretty much, if it's harming someone else, then it is wrong. This lead to a bit of confusion when learning my mother was (she's come around a bit since then) thought there WAS something wrong with homosexuality. My thinking was that they are not harming anyone, it's their bodies, and it's between consenting adults, and this thinking stemmed directly from what my parents taught me. I was quite happy when smoking bans started to go into effect in restaurants locally, especially considering I have asthma. Eventually I started listening to Penn Radio, which was where I was first introduced to the ideas of libertarianism. Basically it started with realizing that I was not being very consistent, in as far as my thinking on why there was nothing wrong with homosexuality, but thinking that pot should be illegal. People smoking pot weren't hurting others, and it was their bodies, though I still thought it would be pushing it to make things like heroin legal. Similarly, I still wasn't applying the same thinking to business and money. Eventually I realized that, applying the same thinking again, their bodies, it's also their money, and if it's between consenting adults, well . . . Any how, that's a VERY simplified reader's digest version of the start of it. Much more to it of course, but like I said, simplified overview. I was very much the mindset that government should stick to courts, police, and the like. Like I've said before, I'd be VERY happy if that as the case, if there was a government that DID stick to just those things, and I would likely have little to complain about. I just happen to also think it would be possible to (eventually) allow competition in those areas as well.

Just a quick point of clarification, I am pro decriminalization of all drugs, but that doesn't mean I am pro drugs. I don't think it is something people should be doing, but it is their bodies, and I certainly don't think that force is the answer.
That's not to say that violent crimes surrounding drugs should be "legal."

If that happened in New Orleans, we'd taze the snot out of those two little delinquents.

Actually that remark was nasty and unfair. In New Orleans we wouldn't have tazed the two little girls.
The police would have pulled up and told them it's $50 for the business license. But if you give us 40% of your profits we can over look your operating without a business license and we will see that no one from the City/Parish government will interfere with your little "enterprise" here. For 60% we will keep the City/Parish government away and make sure you have no competition.
Peace
