If you are referring to the effect by Kevin Parker, then yes, it will work on any surface. As with any coin through table effect of that style, it looks better, more magical and more convincing (or at least that is the idea) when done on glass tables. I am not the biggest fan of that particular handling (there are much better versions out there) but with some hard selling, you can really play it up.

At any rate, and if it is the Kevin Parker effect, and considering that you mentioned using an opaque table, it is a too much trouble to go through when the same effect could be much more simply and cleanly accomplished via sleight-of-hand.
