Thank you for that. Guess it's my PC. I have a recent but not latest QuickTime. I'll upgrade and see how that works.
Thanks for the responses. Dennis |

Blueroyalty,
Yep maybe I am being a little too harsh? OK - and I fully agree I made the purchase on the basis of a 'pre-order' but c'mon, lets be fair both ways here. I made the purchase and paid in full in July of this year. Yes - July! It's now October and we still do not have a firm shipping date. I honestly think it is unreasonable to take someone's cash and make them wait that long for the goods. And by the way, a couple of my friends went along to the L.A.D.s convention in Birmingham yesterday and said the STAR DVD was being shown on Dave's stand in with the dealers and was on sale. Now I am confused!
We are inclined to believe those whom we do not know because they have not yet deceived us...

I was asked by David and Craig to get on stage at LADS and do STAR. With that in mind, I knocked up a batch of 'pre-production' copies. These are 'home-grown' versions of the DVD that I put together specifically for that convention - they are not the 'finished article', as it were - I'm still waiting on those to be delivered.
This is what you're not getting Raymondo. I placed the order for these DVD's AGES ago - maybe 6 or 7 weeks ago. The pre-orders were all supposed to be filled by now and had there not been any 'hiccups', they would have been. The fact that they have not been delivered is beyond my control. It has nothing to do with bad business or bad customer service. I'm not trying to con anyone out of anything. I'm not 'making' you wait for your DVD, as you allude to in your last post - what on earth would I stand to gain from doing that?!? Having said all that, I did get an email today which suggested the DVD's may finally make it to my door on or around the 15th of this month. Fingers crossed! Dave.

I purchased the STAR DVD as a pre-order also back in July, and so naturally I am also still waiting for the DVD. While I haven't complained about not receiving the DVD I will say that the main problem seems to be one of communication. Or more accurately, the lack of same. I hadn't heard anything at all about the missing DVDs until TGR's posts got a bit insistent last week. I haven't seen any previous posts about the delays, nor have I ever received any email notifications explaining them. If something had been posted either here on the forum or on the web site about the DVD delays it might have forestalled all the ruckus here in the forum now.
Just a thought. As I patiently await the DVD delivery. Thank you. Jim |

I've been very happy with my STAR download. I chose not to purchase the DVD at this time.
Considering that part of my job is customer service, I hope that Dave remembers a couple of things in his future responses. 1) While it may not be his fault that these DVD's have taken so long to deliver, it is certainly not the fault of the customer. 2) A little bit of humility goes a long way. Sarcasm rarely reads well on the internet or email. |

Any seller who cares for his customers should at least offer some sort of compensation to the afflicted parties imho, e.g. another download or trick for free. At least that has happened to me often when things went that wrong...

You think some compensation is in order? Why didn't I think of a revolutionary idea like that?

OMG. Combine this with the U.C.C.U. and you gonna end even cleaner. I like the 'you think it's still in my hand?' ruse / gag at the end, but as you will have the perfect cover while straightening out the restored card you can play it as a more serious piece of magic if you prefer. Now that I have both, I can't wait to try this out.

I should qualify that with you don't 'always' need the U.C.C.U, just the actual technique, however as I tend to wear jeans with my shirt out (never tuck a shirt into jeans - A fashion faux pas) then I will be.

Got the dvd recently. I must say this is a great T & R, in my opinion. I think it's the best for close up and strolling, as far as visual piece by piece restorations go. The angles are unbelievably friendly and the routine can be streamlined if desired (at least that's what I've done). There are suddenly a whole lot of piece by piece torn and restored card routines on the market right now, and I can vouch for this one as being a worker. I just received the dvd, but the download was quite good, and I've been using this for some time now. The first 2 restorations are jaw-droppers. Dave Forrest is , of course, a genius. I still think his version of the card through window is beautiful, stunning , the most practical and the most bang for your buck. The same can be said of "Star".

Could you do this with a business card or does it have to be a playing card?

Don't think it would work too well with a business card as a playing card is constructed differently which 'helps the effect' PM if you want a little more detail.
