Who in your opinion is the best flourishy magician out there? I know that De'vo and Jerry Flourishman are the best flourishers bar none, but what I would really like to know is this; Who do you guys think is the best magician for whom flourishes are a major part of his performance?

De'vo was a member of the Ulmen 4, It is very unclear whether they are better or worse than De'vo and Jerry, They do a lot of different things, as far as the best flourishing magicians, the only one I know of who’s famous would be Jeff McBride.

I guess you never heard of the Ulmen 4 What a comment to make for no reason and it is totally incorrect. I bet you know little or nothing about the Ulmen four so don't be so condescending to someone for no reason. As for Jerry, De'Vo and the Ulmen four, none of them really do magic. So don't disrespect for no reason, and if you do, try and be right. As for the best flourishy magician, I would have to say TG Murphy! |

I think the comment was made toward De'vo and Jerry may have company at the top. And I know that both De'vo and Jerry CAN do magic with the best of them, but choose not to.

Yeah, I don't know where you’re getting your facts. Both jerry and De'vo can do magic, they choose not to. De'vo is coming out with a DVD on his ring trick.

What is this ring trick?

Well, I think De'vo DOES magic! BUT but, but, he does NOT use magic presentation. I mean that flipback vanish is for almost every one a magic trick, whether you like it or not! It’s a VANISH! I have talked about De'vo to almost everyone I know and I told them that he doesn't do magic. I show them all the clips he has , and almost every time they see that flipback vanish, believe it or not, they say "But you told me he doesn't do magic".

That's true, the packet vanish is a magic effect. I read that he DOES use magic to ACCENT his flourishes. But maybe he put that on there just for magicians? It is the only "magic" type effect I've ever seen on handlordz/superhandz and I've recently downloaded every single video! From what I read though, Cradle To Grave may also be like a magic effect when all the cards are in order at the end, or maybe a skill effects. Guess I'll have to see it first.
And he does ring tricks? Or ring manipulations? |

Also not too many people know much about the Ulmen 4. I'm not saying that you do or do not. My conviction is that we really have no idea what we each know.

I said the above because I wanted to bypass the whole flourisher v magician debate and just get your views on which magicians best incorporate flourishes into their magic routines. No offence taken about the Ulmen 4 comment. I have honestly never heard of them. A little bit more information on them other than an online comment would have been nice, though. Yeah, I personally think Gregory Wilson is great although I do not own any of his videos. I have only seen some online video demos but he is quite entertaining. As for McBride, I think he is less a flourishy magician than a expert on card manipulation. Which brings me on to this next question, are flourishes and manipulation separate categories in your opinion? |

MacBride is the ****. He rocks, but Cap Casino cuts like nobody's business. I must say though, shoot Ogawa is just … amazing.

What about Ricky Jay? I'm just wondering. What little I've seen of him has had some impressive (to me) flourishes in it. Is he known as a good flourisher?
Just curious on your thoughts about him. |

I don't know about everyone else, but I think Ricky Jay would be the #1 flourisher/magician, then TG Murphy, then McBride, then Tudor.
