That’s without SF, zig zag works too but I find it’s too shiny and visible to the spectator in certain lights Gaz Smile

I am sorry that you are having such difficulty. I just use some Elmer's Repositional Glue Stick and can toss around two cards that are together without an issue. Smile

Thanks for the suggestion Ezrhythm. Does repositional not get in the way of easy spreading when you need to separate?

Correct, it does not get in the way. I use it without other spray on the cards. As Gaz said, the line can be horizontal. I also use a vertical line of Elmer's down the center of the card(s). Only one card needs the application for two cards to stick together. They spread easily when you want them to.

Yes agreed one line down the centre also works great or a diagonal line providing you keep your cards the correct orientation so you are pushing on the non glued corner.
I mix it about depending on what I want to achieve, the vertical line is better if you want it less visible if you are giving them a discreet squeeze. The horizontals seem to stop any chance of a flaring corner. They all work well though and reliably, also Elmers doesn’t leave residue on the target card either from my experience

Thanks for the suggestions. I experimented with Zig Zag and it's just too sticky/residuey. Repositional glue leaves stick on the target card. I don't have any Elmer's left so I'll have to order more. I do have an Elmer's glue stick which might be worth a go. All these options do make me wonder why I forked out £80 on Sci Fri ????

I found I had to get the correct Elmers repostionable stick. One of Elmers said it’s only repositional until dry so was no good.
The one that works best for me was in a large Orange stick that clearly says repositionable on it.
The other one says on the small print that it will only be removable until fully dry.
However the link on eBay didn’t say that, so it did take a bit of trial and error until I found the best one imo.
If anyone wants to know pm me and I will send you a screen shot of my favourite Gaz Smile
Ps Card Wand by Cody Fisher obviously also works great but is much more expensive

Yes that’s the one I use and find the best too. For some reason it seemed difficult to get in the UK.
Mine I believe were shipped from the US so Walmart’s makes perfect sense Gaz Smile

Here is a hack that Juan Tamariz shared with John Archer, who I heard it from in a lecture. I figured that if it was good enough for them it probably works, and it does. The product is a Silicone Putty. It is soft, as you would expect a putty to be. But you can use it somewhat like a crayon and apply it to a card. Another card will then stick to the “treated” card. No need to apply to both cards. The cards will stick together easily with light pressure to adhere them. You can toss the card pair in the air, drop them on the ground and they stay together as one card. When you want them to split a light sideways pressure is all it takes, similar to R&S. No noise when they separate like other glues I have used. You can experiment with whether to draw an X across the card with the putty or a stripe at top or bottom. It all depends on how easily you want them to separate and how much you want to toss them about as “one card”. The putty is sold as an ear plug. In the states it is sold as “Mack’s Pillow Soft Earplugs”. You can find it at a pharmacy (Chemist) with other ear plugs. I got mine at Walmart, who sell their own brand of the product for a few cents less that Mack’s. It is invisible and clear, like most R&S treatments. Hard to notice unless you are looking real close and know what to look for. Spectators never see it since it is clear. Highly recommended.

Excellent tip! That is also the experience I have found with the Elmer's Repositional Glue Stick. Smile

I ordered this based on your comments and it arrived yesterday.
I must say thank you as it’s excellent and I’m going to run a few more tests but so far it could be the best yet.
I appreciate you following the ethos of these boards as it’s so very helpful.
I will update when I have tried every scenario but so far its brilliant Gaz:)

Well, if Gaz thinks it’s brilliant then I guess I'm going to have to get me some of these silicone putty earplugs.
Thank you both Ed and Gaz for the tip.
Never would have thought to try that in a million years!
Amazon here I come.

Mine were £5 on eBay inc p&p for 6 pairs of Macks. So it’s almost like having 12 Robson sticks.
I like that it sticks but leaves no residue on the target card and yet you can separate nicely.
You can through them in the air and they won’t come apart but as I say you can still at the same time use for roughing effects.
I’m going to try to make a complete id deck with it too Gaz:)

Nice to hear that Gaz and others are finding the ear plug putty useful. My next experiment with the putty will be to see if it replaces the more aggressive adhesives such as double sided tape, that I use on a few tricks. Nyman's Insane comes to mind. I don't like having to cover the sound that double sided tape makes sometimes when separating the cards. Speaking of sound, I tried the Aleen's Tack-It glue that someone mentioned. While it works well it does make a sound when separating the cards. It could be me just being clumsy and not practicing with it enough. It could also be the difference between performing in a real environment with background noise and practicing here at home where it is more quiet. My technique for separating the cards, be it a slide vs a peel-away may be the problem too. I have been looking for the Elmer's re-positional stick that was recommended but it has been sold out at the two stores I checked.

Ed your putty and the Elmers stick are my favs by far.
You have to get the exact Elmers stick but your putty reminds me of what is used on the smart ass deck which is a great great find on your part.
I owe you one my friend Gaz Smile

Which would you say is better? The plugs or Science Friction? My plugs will be arriving today! Excited to see how they hold up!

Many thanks,
