Does anyone here know if the Cups and Balls have been done with a black sheep, perchance? I'm working on something with this theme right now.

Not that I know of. Ask Bill Palmer.

There's a famous routine done with two hats that involves sheep and thieves, I think. I believe it's in Tarbell as well as other sources.

Oh, that's interesting, Bill. I'm aware of some coin work, especially Lou and Mike's "Thieves Pitchin' Sheep" from The Underground Man - I did some work on that for awhile but have been getting hung up a bit on one of the tougher manoeuvers, and set it aside a little while ago. I've seen a version or two in Bobo's and maybe elsewhere, but wasn't as keen on the methodology involved in those.

Thanks all for your help so far...

Laurie

The routine that Laurie is referring to (for the non-coin performers) from Bobo is the classic Thieves and Sheep. I like the routine and I use it when I get the chance to borrow the coins for it as I usually do not carry the required coins all the time. Ron Bauer put out a manuscript called Butch, Ringo & the Sheep. It streamlines some of the sleights from the Bobo version, and gives you a wonderful story for the presentation, along with a few interesting changes and updates. Michael Ammar also teaches the effect on one of his Easy To Master Coin Magic videos. However, here we are talking about a cups and balls presentation, which other than the one Bill mentioned, I do not know of any. However, I have seen people do Three Blind Mice with the shells.

Hmmm, I was going to keep these under wraps until I had the huge amounts of info and special features written up (nearly there), the fact that they are (computer) mice is a presentational angle, their most powerful features (and there's a lot) are hidden in plain sight.

Anyway, I do occasionally use the 3 blind mice as a presentational angle with these, just for fun...

Now those are just cool! Where did you happen upon these little mice?

The presentations I have seen were all done with the plain walnut shells (for some reason, usually La Maggiore shells), and one guy even had peas which were gray in color and decorated like a little mouse with some sort of paint and/or markers, complete with drawn on eyes, ears, nose, whiskers, etc.

Thanks! I didn't happen upon them, they have been in the works for a long time and designed from the ground up. There are a lot of special features hidden within the design, it's been a very exciting project.

I should probably start a new thread rather than hijack Laurie's though. I just showed them as Pete mentioned the 3 blind mice. Smile

Thanks Laurie! Thinknig about your idea, there was a thread on cupscon about painting cups a while back ( http://www.cupscon.com/index.php/topic,253.0.html ) Iseem to recall someone was doing a routine with 1 black cup and 1 black ball and 2 white cups and balls (or something like that anyway), it might be worth scouting around cupscon for that particular thread....

:)
