Hello,
I know this is a pretty subjective topic, but I was hoping to get some recommendations for a magic show in Vegas? I have seen: Penn & Teller - Was VERY happy with this show Caesar's Magical Empire twice when it was around - loved it Nathan Burton - liked it a lot (especially since it was free) I am going next week with my wife, and would like to see a good one. Particularly, one that does not rely on a magician's table, or the clear illusion box, for majority of it's tricks... On another note, does anyone know the actual name of the clear illusion box (don't know how to better explain it without revealing the "magic"). I am referring to the ones that items and/or people disappear or appear in (like Nathan Burton uses for many tricks). Thanks for any help!!!!! |

I've only seen two magic shows while I was in Vegas, back in February, but I would say that Mac King wins hands down. The other one that I saw was Nathan Burton's, which was very enjoyable. David Copperfield is at the MGM right now and I saw him when he was on tour, he'll definitely give a great show.
For your box question, I think what you're looking for is "Crystal Casket." |

I 've also heard the Mac King show is good. I think Vegas is a great place for magic as the shows get so much coverage. Not been Vegas for a while but last time I went I saw Lance Burton and loved it.

Another vote of confidence for Mac King!! His show is superb and rather inexpensive. He's at Harrah's and his showtimes are 1:00PM and 3:00PM. A family friendly show which is a must see!

Fantastic! Mac King was one I wanted to see especially since he has a daytime show!
Any thoughts between Lance Burton, Copperfield, and Criss Angel? |

Lance is no longer performing. If it's between Copperfield and Angel, Copperfield wins hands-down (IMO). But don't miss Mac, and hang around after the show and introduce yourself.

From everything I have heard, Angel's show is horrible. I wouldn't waste my money based on what others here have said. I would take the time to find The Magic Wunderground and go see Jeff McBride.
Also Nathan Burton and Mac King. Copperfield is always a safe bet, in my book.

Jeff McBride's Wonderground is held every third Thursday of every month. It is at a Hookah Bar (The Olive) near where I live. So, if it isn't the third Thursday of the month (during your Vegas visit) you won't be able to catch this show. You'll need to plan a return trip
djswas, At Harrah's you can go to the "Players Club" booth and get discount coupons for Mac's show. Mac greets everyone in attendance, after the show...so be sure to bring your camera. Best Magical Regards, Mark Williams

Another vote for Mac King, good for all ages, afternoon, not expensive, and a tremendous show. Seen it over 30 times, never gets old. Best magic show in town for the money. Rick Thomas is very good too for an illusion show, also on the lower cost side compared to some of the others. Also good for general audiences. Rick has tons of energy, entertains very well, and has a good grand illusion show.

According to his facebook page he is still at Planet Hollywood until they get the theater at the Riveria ready for him. Initially it was supposed to be July 1 for the Riv, but I believe they are running behind.

MAc King is by far the best. Copperfield is great as well, his theatre is small enough so that you feel like you're in the front row. Use Tix4Today and the prices are usually at least 40% off.

I loved Rick Thomas, he had a really great day show! I don't know if he regained his show or not. He was moved a couple of times I remember. A fantastic Magician who deserves a permanent home.
If you like Card menipulation I highly recommend seeing Stephane Vanel's show at the Paris hotel. Truly one of the best card handlers in the world today. Vanel had a part in a show at MGM for 7 years called Crazy Horse Paris. (formally called Le Femme) http://thelasvegasinformer.com/community......nel.html

Mac King truly was a fantastic show. Even my wife loved it. Saw Magic of Paris as well. The Paris show is not nearly as entertaining as Mac King but the main guy Stephane Vanel is absolutely amazing with his hand tricks. It would be amazing to be able to do just one of his tricks!

Depending on how long you're staying in town they have a magicians get together on Wednesday nights I beleive. Can't remember the exact location, but the guy's at the Houdini's shop in Ceasar's will know. LAnce will occasionally show up.
