The twitter thread on "Pennies" set me thinking it could be fun to try to express magical effects (or magicians) in traditional haiku form. Here are a couple Blackstone classics I've haiku'd to kick off with.
Bulb lit from the hand Floats over and back - don't touch! Then flickers and dies. No flight from this cage. Just chirrup while you can - Poof! Poor little birdie! Rules for Haiku Hacks: 1. Three line poem of 17 syllables in total (5, 7 and 5 syllables in successive lines). 2. Rhyming not necessary. 3. No exposure. 4. Nothing offensive. Mike |

A cup turns over;
anticipation awaits as surprise reveals it is in the bag, and then hides in mystery – to egg on our joy

The bullet flies fast.
Lucky magi hear the blast Though some died aghast! Take a card - Don't show! It shouldn't surprise you that I already know! Mike |

Choose any card you want.
The card is hopelessly lost. Look, I found your card! I have three coins here. One goes over to the other hand. The other two go too! Write name on the card. I put the card in the middle. Look, it is on top! Put ball under the cup. It's not there now, it's gone here. Look! A larger ball in cup! See unequal ropes. Now each rope is the same length! Next they're unequal! Handkerchief in hand; hand opened, it's gone! What will I use to blow nose? Disappear from stage, and then reappear elsewhere. Why not just walk there?
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

My haiku will be
composed in honor of all the hack magicians ----- Oh my! I will dance And wave my arms mystically. ... Forgot my patter. Look! I've pulled a coin out from behind your left ear. Are you not impressed? Another card trick. The audience was snoring after the third one. Magician hauled off in handcuffs. The saw drips red. He should have practiced.

A white pocket knife
Suddenly changes to black When pushed through his fist. As if made of mist, Solid rings link and unlink- Classic of magic. Playful silver orb Defies law of gravity All around the cloth. The Woofle has no dust
to mask the ditch and steal. Magic is now dead. I pretend to see what you pretented to do. Now, who is magic?
