The D'light is terrific=what I've found the kids enjoy the most isn't the thumb going from light to light, taking is behind knee caps, etc. They will watch the light to music, etc, it will mesmorize them, however in my opinion, and what I've done to get them cracking us, is to reprimand my thumb, 'no lighting up until I tell ya,' then I turn my attention to the kids, and it lights up, and of course when I look, it's gone out'. It's the Ol' famous look, don't see kind of thing. Works great with a d'light tip.
The hat tear is fun as well. The bits in between, I feel work better, than the actual trick, like I give them part of the paper, and say, "please don't rip this paper', and of course, we rip it together, one piece. "Man, I didn't know how strong you were, please don't rip it anymore', then of course we rip another piece. Just have fun with this part is cool. I use lots of double takes here. The puppet I use lots, ironically enough, I believe Potty uses it, as I saw in a video of his, is the squaking parrot. Love it. I pretend he's whispering to me, and I go, 'hey guys he wants to eat a finger, anyone want to give him one?' All the fingers go up, and he pretends to get one, as they of course pull them back. Sometimes, I'll go, "he's got your head, he's got your head', as the parrot has him mouth on a kids head, they are rolling. Always gain the trust of your audience first before having a puppet eat fingers. Don't use this in the beginning of show. w In my opinion, the topper wand is one of the greatest things ever inventend for this age, obviously they enjoy the thing popping off the third time as well as the first. Remember to get frustrated with the wand, as they are enjoying your frustration as much as the actual white tip popping off. Mouth coils are great, you can even pull them right out of a child's hands as you know. I usually do actually take them out of my mouth, even though I do hear the points some of you make on why it's not good to do that. I hear ya on that, but I usually do that. I haven't used the coloring book in a long time, but I remember saying, 'take the colors from your shirts, and throw really hard a the book', we all do some version of this, I bet. Then the book would fly out of my hands, "not that hard, everyone', then repeat a few times, or when they throw the colors, the book would bonk me in the head. They had lots of fun with this. You'll never go wrong with the coloring book. Self working or not, it's going to be here when we're long gone. |

Hey DynoMike
I have it from a reliable source that in the time between the first post on this thread and your revival of it Mystero has done several thousand kid shows and could show you a few moves that you never saw before. You are a decade late, and a dollar short.
