Bill, I did a search in "Ever so sleightly" for "Keebler" and found your post mentioning that Lee has a combo routine but it hadn't been released yet.
Not much help for the new guys, even if they knew who Lee Keebler is (sorry but I don't). There are other ways that we can be helpful without breaking some "code of secrecy" or steering them in directions that don't offer any results. Bill, this is not directed to you personally, as you've helped more than any other person here, but it's more for those who find the time to chastise the new users when they could have spent the same time to actually provide a gentle nudge in the right direction. (And no, I don't think "Do a Search" is necessarily the right answer) Martok has two questions hidden in his request. Are there routine that incorporate "external" PK forces in a Cups and Balls routine, and are there any Chop Cup routines that use this technique. One such routine was just made available by Penguin Magic not that long ago called "Chop by Craig Petty available here

Dave V,
I'm Lee Kebler And that is not entirely true, the product has been released and was available for a long time. A good number of people have actually worked with it, however, you are correct to say that the project is currently unavailable (out of print). A new release of the project will be available by the end of the month, if all goes well. This is an updated version with an hour long interview with Bill Palmer discussing many different aspect and methods of the cups and balls. -Lee (Kebler) |

Hi Lee, nice to meet you. If it was available, the Café search didn't say much about it. Maybe the spelling had something to do with it. It just reinforces how ineffective most search engines are. I'm glad to know it's coming out again soon. I'll be looking forward to it.

I will preface my response by saying that I am an old fart.
When I was a young lad full of curiosity about magic, after I had exhausted all of the references in the library, a building that had books available to peruse and borrow, I found a brick and mortar place called a magic shop. What a wondrous event that was! Here was an actual place that had boxes and tubes and cups and all manner of secret things. And, there were also books! And, all of these were available for the taking...if you had the money to acquire them. There were also people... In my case, the building I entered those many years ago was Phil Thomas' Yogi Magic Mart on Charles Street in Baltimore. And the people there were as wondrous to a young man as were the wares on the shelves and in the counter displays. Here were guys that were masters. Frank Thompson, Cy Keller, Howie Schwarzman, George Most, MIckey Ford, and on and on. The single attribute they had in common was, one had to prove a true desire and interest in learning before any secrets would be revealed. When asking them about a technique or trick (if you were lucky enough to approach them at all) you had better be prepared for a peppering... "Have you read Erdnase?...Did you buy The Cardician?...How many volumes of Tarbell do you own?", etc., etc. Once you had proven that you had an earnest desire and could articulate and demonstrate what you had learned, you might be granted access to the "back room" where ideas were shown and discussed, but few things were given away. Fast forward... The electronic age... Too many seek answers without doing any research, even as easy and instantaneous as it is today to do so. And, they do it with no respect. This is the case with the OP: "BTW usually when someone post a snide remark like yours they provide a link" Here is a link for you. @ Paul Reed, Get rid of the entitlement attitude. @ Dave V, Chastise? Really. Brian

Thank you all for the delightful discussion and nudges that have been given. I would really like to thank Dave V for going way past my expectations of what I thought I would get from a forum. I have been looking at all of the info presented here and really think it will give me the push toward my goal.
I am completely amazed by Bill Palmer's psychic abilities. I still don't know how he knew what undergarment I was wearing the other day. Those silky things get knotted so easily lol. Try as I might, I have still not been able to find what I was looking for with the search. Could it be that I don't know the correct terms to search for? That was why I titled this thread the way I have. I thought I had given enough info about how much I personally knew about this subject, but now I believe I'm mistaken. Up to the point that Dave V pointed to some videos, I had seen very few Chop Cup performances, and they where a long time ago. To be honest, the performances were not all that good. I knew the method, but never used it my self. While looking for inspiration, I never imagined it to be this difficult. Again, thank you all. Martock |

Well I guess I have to call it as I see it. We have a Troll in our midst. Should have stopped while you were ahead. Your 13 year old mentality has no place here.

That's the whole point Lee, I have no specifics. Just building Ideas from thoughts of members. I am looking to every one here as though they are my muse. Like I have stated before, I was not looking to start a discussion of method, but a discussion on effect. As well as, the difference of effect between the two methods I mentioned. I am not sure why the confusion. Thank you for the invitation to PM you with question and I may just do that at some point to pick your brain a little.
Thanks again, Martock |

Hey no biggy I was honestly trying to help by sharing a newbie angle. In no means do I feel entitled to anything, I have mark wilsons complete course in magic, the royal road to card magic, card college 1 & 2, harry loraynes classic collection, gazzos street cups DVD and some other bits and bobs including Jim Steinmayers historical work - I'm willing to do some homework.
Much of this stuff was purchased from and with the advice of people here. On the subject of brick and mortar magic shops I'm only aware of two worth visiting in London and one of these unfortunately suffers from a similar hostile approach to us noobs - they do not get my business! |

I don't think there is a "hostile approach to noobs" here. I think there is an expectation that we are going to spoon feed people magic information. The motto here is magicians helping magicians. We do that. We don't hold your hand and lead you through everything, though. Still, we can and do lead people to external resources that can help you find out information, but you must be willing to do some work on your own.
For example, if you are interested in the cups and balls, and you do not check out the cups and balls museum, you are ignoring a source for information that won't cost you a bloody dime. There are free downloads there that will help you with the cups and balls more than, for example, anything Jim Steinmeyer has written. Of course, Jim doesn't spend much time on the cups and balls.

All good; I have no issue as I said - not sure why I got involved I'm not looking for anything (just sharing an angle) - doh!!!
@Bill Overall the Café has been a wonderful resource giving me access to some of the greatest minds in magic, it has been very welcoming. On occasion individuals have 'appeared' to be hostile; I thought it' helpful to try and constructively share my view I Apologise now if it has caused offence - sorry! I love your Cups and Balls museum I find myself browsing it quite often; thank you kindly for this contribution and the countless hours sharing this information with anyone who has an interest in the art. |

Jonathan,
I don't think that Steve ever put the item in print. A performance of it is on his lecture notes DVD. That's the only place I've ever seen it.

I just got Craig Petty's Chop routine and like it a lot. It can be done anywhere and with very little to carry around.

Peter Wardell has an interesting demo at the end of one of his DVDs. personally I am fond of using a lil' dixie cup and a wadded up napkin. As clean as it gets.
