I would like to purchase a coin bend. I've seen quite a few like the superman coin bend, infinity bend and a few others. I cant afford to pay anything more than 100 dollars so coin-vexed and quantum bender is out. Any ideas?

Hi MitchellMac!
I hate to burst your bubble, but for the money, QB2 is really the best option. Anything less, well...you may as well just bend the coin with pliers, and work on presentation. Coin-Vexed is mostly that, presentation. The tools can only do so much. A simple Bobo Switch can get the same reaction as a $500 or $600 coin bender! Watch a guy who is a master with coins! I know what you mean about not being able to afford anything more than $100, though! I'm in that same boat. Really The Boa, the QB2, the Coin-Vexed are all gonna cost ya! The question is, how much is the effect on the audience worth to YOU? Are they paying you to perform? You'll make back your investment that way. In that case I'd take out a loan and get the Quantum Bender, and market myself! There are less expensive ways. QB2 takes the hard work out of it, and lets you concentrate on performance. It just depends on what it's worth to you. If you're an amateur like me, or just do magic for fun, then the QB2 is not practical (unless you're rich). Do a Google search! I found quite a few just looking there!

I agree with Doug - QB2 is the only way to go, but I can't afford one either. Don't, let me repeat that, DON'T get the Superman. It sat in my drawer for a couple of years before I gave it away.

I agree with Jim and Doug, QB2 is the way to go. However, while you're saving up for it, use the Bobo switch....with a good presentation is gets great reactions.

I've worked with both. CV2 would be like the Cadillac of coin benders, and QB2 is like the Mazaratti of coin benders. You pay a lot more for QB2, but you definitely get what you pay for. I went with CV2 due to the price, and I still get good reactions from it. But, if you can use a simple pass, which has served coin bending routines very well for longer than any of us have been alive, you will get some great practice with a routine. Just because a pass is easier and doesn't come with a high price tag, doesn't mean it is in any way inferior.

I like to do a coin bend using the ASP which leaves you totally clean at the end.

I agree with most here, but money was an issue with me also so I bought and used a Boa for a while and loved it and still do... Then saw a way (DVD) to make my own using reg personal care items-- worked just as well and even had a way to show hands empty -right after an in your face
Bend--- you probably already seen stupid kids On YouTube making them up -- Sal |

I just picked up QB2 last week and I am stunned by what a marvelous device this is. You can of course (for a lot less money) switch a bent coin with a normal one using a sleight, but the impact of bending a signed coin right in front of them in a matter of seconds is hard to over exaggerate. It's as close to real magic as you can get. I have not used other coin benders, but with QB2 I bend it right in front of their faces while I am making a subtle gesture. QB2 is one solid device, and is so cleverly designed that spectators do not take notice of it.

I checked out Osterlind's Irresistible Forces, too. I'd say save up for QB2, if you're looking for a gimmicked routine with a signed coin. Osterlind markets his bend well, but the written instructions leave something to be desired, and you have a whole lot of something to hide while you're doing the bend. Hopefully this won't get deleted (he had the last thread on the effect deleted due to "exposure," but then proceeded to reveal even more details in subsequent marketing).
If you're looking to get away from the gimmicks, and aren't overly concerned with using a signed coin, check out Joshua Quinn's book, Paralies. There's a very nice unsigned coin bend in there using sleight of hand, plus you'll get a boatload of other great tips and routines as well.
Now appearing nightly in my basement.
