If you are targeting a new market and are, consequently, unable to use quotes from previous clients (none yet existing for that market), what should you focus on to sell yourself in the new market?

Maybe just use the number of years experience in magic.

But more important than you, sell what you can do for them.

It's really not about you anyway.

You can use quotes from other markets sometimes depending. Unless they are all birthday parents testimonials.

You don't have to use the whole quote either.

I have quotes from all sorts of shows that I love but each also seem to have a line or two that stand out and does not really direct any one to any specific type of show but does express the quality of my shows.

also I feel it depends on the market. I mean lets say its the school market you want to work in well experience will win every time but if you have none then you need to express what your qualifications are to be entertaining er um mean educating the kids at their schools.

if it is a school program one of the best things I can suggest is offer a few free school schools with the understanding that they review the show and you have permission to use their quotes and comments.

I know many will jump in and say NO don't do free shows offer a discount always get paid etc etc and yea if you can get a discount great but if no one is biting you might want to offer the free shows to get you foot in the door and get some quality quotes.

so what market are you trying to get into if you are willing to share as it would help us help you better.

Free show solicitors are much more plentiful this year then the past. Seems Im getting them more and more but know what to say from now on to hopefully book the gig with a discount.

I'd market the persona.
The idea of an experienced magician.
The benefits of new excitement.
The relevant part of the testimonials (I'm quite sure is HAS a relevant part)
and what THEY will fill upon these points.
