Without "picking a side" in all of this, I will add this much:
Sometimes this forum reminds me of times where people ask for your opinion (expert opinion or not and hired/paid or not) and when you provide them with such, they turn around and reject everything you have offered up and say that it is of absolutely no value. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - whether it is consequential, unfortunate or otherwise not-so-desirable or not. |

I might say that when you published a routine and that after that, all other routines in that category goes by that name (MATRIX) all real student of the art should recognize your name for what you bring to them. Mr Schneider knows what he's talking about, he demonstrated it often and to a degree most of us will never reach! The only thing that was said, have been said based on what we saw on the promo vid. That's it! |

I juge by what is available... A promotional video. I can still remember the day I saw the promo of Ponta the Smith, it was so WOW ! No doubts in my mind, this guy had much more chops than most of us. I knew then that Iwanted his DVD. In this case, the promo shown me right. If I'm wrong about what I said earlier in this post, I'd be too happy to retract myself, but until then, the promo vid fromRadek Makar shows me a good technician but nothing new. |

One thing I know about Radek...we know absolutely nothing about his book...unless we have read it.
I have no horse in this race but I would suggest Radek to make another video...and Al to find another place to try to sell his new routine. I think hawking you routine while bashing someone else is cold. Just my opinion... |

Al asked why Mb and Vinny were getting so excited about Radek's stuff. I don’t think that Al was trying to "put Radek down"; I think he was wondering why he was seeing a review announcing this ebook like it was for Michael Ammar or something equally momentous. I expect that Al sees Radek as a good, very competent young coin worker but not one who you would expect to see a review that sounds like it might be for Ponta.
That's my opinion of course, and I probably should not be speaking for Al. But I did want to say what I thought was Al's reasoning. Heck, I could be way off - I often am! But that is how I read Al's post. If wrong, I apologize, Al. Thank you. Jim |

You fellows who do not like glowing reviews are forgetting that not long ago Radmak put out his first ebook and received enourmous criticism.
If somebody offers a glowing review does that mean they are being dishonest? I've been asked by some to review things here and I often offer positive reviews, but when I don't like something I tell the person in private that I respectfully decline to review it in public. And I don't think my reviews really sway anyone one way or another, anyway. Offering a negative review can be helpfull, of course, but saying something like "so and so is the next Ponta" is just an opinion, and everybody's got one. If I were to say "Radmak is the next Ponta" that doesn't mean he is or isn't, it's just something I would say. Still, this all makes for fascinating discussion. |

That this has generated such conversation, I think, should tell Radmak he is one the right track. In my business, I've learned that people don't have discussions like this over something that has little or no promise.
As to comparisons of stars and masters. It's like saying that because there was a Michael Jordan, there's no room for a Kevin Durant. One great thing about the web and forums like this is we in magic can watch the stars of tomorrow develop, just as we do sports on television. And yes, I like the NBA, too. So what of it? This is a great conversation on so many levels. And Radmak, you've got them talking. That's something. |

I only had a chance to quickly read through this and found it very well written with good clear photos that
follow closely with the text. Clarity of the information was excellent. Intermediate coin workers should have no problem grasping the concepts. At first glance, the material looks good and is surely worth the modest price. I love to study how others approach things and invariably discover new variations that could apply to my own work. That is the case with Radek's latest effort. I'll definitely be digging in to this and will let you know how it goes. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks. Sometimes it feels good to part your hair on the opposite side, put some anchovies on the pizza and take a look at some different coin handling. Maybe shift your paradigm a little. Have FUN with it. If we're not careful, we might learn something. Radek is very serious and obviously in it for the long haul. Personally, I like where he's going. Take a look. You might be pleasantly surprised.

It becomes so when the only reviews of anything that the same person(s) gives is always a glowing one. If you have been in magic long enough you may remember Ed Mishells reviews in Genii. He gave nothing but good reviews to anything that crossed his path. Maybe once in a blue moon he didn't but in just about every single review he only said good things or just gave the outline of the effect. That is NOT reviewing. We see that type of thing here on the Café way too often. Reviewing if done right works well. Look for how long Michael Close did it for magic. Jamy Ian Swiss has been doing reviews for years as well. They both have called things as they see them. They have even lost friendships over it. If you're going to be a reviewer of magic products you have to call them as you see them. |
