"Remember that in our time, conjuring in close proximity to the audience was uncommon, although not unheard of. At typical parlour distances, and under the lighting conditions of our day,..." reads close to Kaufman on Hofzinser. Check the you in parlor and presupposition of proximity (as if they forgot all they read in Roteberg and Neve and Scot) and you get...

I also wondered about the "we". I don't think it's Jason England, although he's been absent recently. And hasn't Hatch himself posted up there in a thread or to?
English is my bet. Simon Lovell? (I don't have any of his written stuff so I could be way off)

So Jon and Craig vote for Kaufman, and Kaufman is my second choice.
BTW, when did Whit disappear and Pop show up? Around the same time as S.W.E.? Coincidence? I mean, the royal we means nothing. I could do that. So Pop probably could, too. And he fits my west coast theory. |

No idea why you all seem to have dismissed the Ouija keyboard theory. I could get that **** published in Nature!

Pop has secretly been masquerading as Whit on this forum for six or seven years. I have just now done away with the mask.
I am with Jean Hugard about Erdnase. |

We know about the show and his eloquence. The time-line fits, and it's a bank holiday here.Hence no posts today. He's down at the coast paddling and making sand castles....Those crazy barristers!! Ray.

I love how some people are getting really worked up about someone masquerading as Erdnase over in the G.O.H section...

Vincero, we're not "worked up", but having a little fun. If you want to see us worked up, wait until Steve makeks Phoebe Cates a guest of honor.
Ray, Guy is a truly excellent guess. |

So, more evidence:
1. Mr Erdnase addressed me as "Jeff" (though admittedly, Josh #3 had referred to me earlier in the thread as Jeff; still, it nevertheless implied familiarity with my name). 2. Mr Erdnase is familiar with Doc and Doc's cold-decking skills. 3. Mr Erdnase made a direct reference to Glenn Bishop's posting style. Weak and circumstantial evidence, to be sure, but putting the three together suggests a familiarity with "The Gambling Spot" forum here at the Café. I just don't see Richard Kaufman or Guy Hollingworth being particularly interested in that forum. They are definitely not regular posters there. Jason is, though. Jason also once wrote (I forget where) a parody of Erdnase's introduction to EATCT, so we know he has actually put some thought into how to sound like Erdnase. My money is still on Jason England. If I'm wrong I'll buy everyone here at NOTS a beer. The virtual kind, that is. |

I'd love to visit you, Critter. And I'd bring some beer, but bringing Wurst is actually illegal, and would constitute "smuggling". If I had to choose what to get arrested for, smuggling wouldn't be one of them.

Bummer about the sausage. I bet it's real good over there. From the grocery ads my teacher brought it seems like a real meat heavy culture.
