Hi all, I'm not into escapes but I am putting A In & out routine into my family show. I want to use the hanging bag with two people holding the rope etc.. I have the oval bar type chain hand cuffs and my question is this. I have small skinny wrists and if I have someone chain me up tight, when I slide the chain down the side of the oval bar there still is not enough slack for me to get my hands out. Any thoughts?
Thanks! Mike McNee Kalamazoo, MI

Try Qua-Fiki's "Chain Cuffs" from his book "Escapes for Teens." You can make it yourself from a couple of chains and a PVC (or iron) pipe and Qua-Fiki's secret gimmick. Another alternative is a rope tie, like Qua-Fiki's "Sandwich Escape" from his "Single Rope Escapes" in the same book. They can tie the rope as tightly as possible and you are still out in a flash (although you may be rubbing your wrists if they are real meanies).

Hard to say, but it seems like you might be applying the chain incorrectly. Se if you can find an example on you-tube. There is a right way and a wrong way to put the chain on.

Get different locks with slightly longer shackles.
Also change the angle your wrist when you're offering your wrists. You can gain slack using both methods above.

Mike,
You could also use the Jim Ryan thumb tie. I use a pipe cleaner for it. |

Good idea Al, but I want it to look good from a stage or a semi large group etc.. The chains have a good look from even the back of the room.

I have a set of Abbott's Chain Cuffs that may work, that I'd be willing to part with. The dimensions are such that I think they would work - a long but narrow main link.
I'd feel comfortable using the pipe cleaner for a group of up to 1000, as long as the lighting is right. I buy them in a color that contrasts with my skin tone. I can even buy them in metallic colors. |

When using the chain shackles, keeping your hands open with fingers spread wide helps create the illusion they are tight.
