So today was my first time out this season since Christmas.
I looked to take advantage of it being Labor Day weekend.
I also looked at doing the package deal from Don's
DVD with the Squirmal. I attempted this in the past when
I was first starting out, but just didn't stick to my guns
as the basic pitch just moved the deck and kicker really
fast. But today, I stuck to it, and gave no other deals
(believe me they tried) and it quite simply it worked out
well. Especially for a flea with disappointing attendance
today. The theory was that due to the threat of rain that
most people took to the beach today instead of tomorrow.

How are you guys fairing this season?

I could be wrong, but I thought Don simply suggested that the deck and the worm should be PITCHED together, not necessarily SOLD together.

Although you could certainly offer both items at a "reduced" price as a package, I don't think Don suggested that anyone should REQUIRE the purchase of one item as a condition of buying the other.

I have found that alternating between the deck and worm pitches is a highly effective way to pull some great big tips. Since the market for each item is somewhat different, this way you offer something for everyone. However, I have never required that both items be purchased together or not at all, and I don't think it's a good idea. But I'd also like to hear from Don and other folks on this. SETH

Sorry for misleading you in my text; let me expalin...

I did not require the purchase of one item to buy another.
A person could by a squirmal or a deck at their own choosing.

As Don noted in his DVD, "stick to your guns" as people will want
the kicker without the package deal. Or they want 2 squirmals
and the kicker, or two decks and a squirmal. I just kept it as,
if you want the kicker you have to go for the package. Grant it,
I sold the kicker by itself a couple of times.

In my case, the squirmal is perfect tip builder; especially with
little ones. I alternated between manipulating the squirmal and
Don's (what do you call it?) bally? "Walk talk snort..". They
both worked well in getting my audience and building up the edge.

I took most of the summer off but am out again. Attendance has been down a little but still doing good with the splats and floating card. Looking to do the light up thumbs next year.

I have some kiosks in West Salt Lake if anyone is looking for some work in that area during the holiday season.

D'lites are great but you have to make sure the lighting is right, as I'm sure you know. I would sell them but I do a lot of outdoor pitches, during the daytime.
