If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000

Of course not. But what are you gonna do? That pizza which is loaded with fat, sodium, bad carbs, nitrates and god know what all is probably more harmful than the toy guns. Isn't childhood obesity a huge problem? And they better check with the EPA before they bury that box full of plastc and foam toy guns in the ground. I don't think that's a very good idea either.

Only if you think the complete emasculation of our culture is a worthy goal, and that no formal context involving even stylizied "hostility" can be tolerated.

Emasculation? So what you're saying is that toy guns are phallic symbols?

No, they are not. They are just tools. But I do think that a major theme currently at work in our culture is a war against the masculine, and masculinity in general. It is practically illegal to suggest that there might even be any difference between the abilities of the female sex and the male, but to disparage characteristics of men and boys is commonplace and accepted. In just about every society in the world, it is the obligation - or vocation, if you will - calling - of men to protect their wives and children, to interface with the wild world of the forest or the bush, and transform it into a civilized garden. One part of that vocation, and only one part, is the necessity of providing defense. When in your society the tools of that primordial vocation are disparaged, denied, and boys are forbidden to learn their proper use, then I think that your society is on its way to disappearing from this earth.

I agree with you about the unfortunate wussification of the modern male, but my old lady's a pretty good shot

Glad to hear it! Marksmanship is by no means a purely, particularly, or peculiarly masculine skill!

Women are becoming more violent and I am not kidding.

But if only the good kids give up their toy guns, then only the bad kids will have toy guns! I don't know if I want to live in a world like that.
