I posted this in an older topic but thought it might get a bit more notice here. I just purchased one of these from an estate sale. All there in perfect condition except for instructions. I know how it works so that's no issue. I even made a simple device to help with a certain preparation needed beforehand. If there is a way to do this I couldn't figure that out so I made up something to help deal with it (If you have this, you know what I may be referring to, if not...well, be mystified!) ;-)
What I was wondering is what people recommend to use to keep the aluminum cylinders clean with? In practicing this I noticed the rubber bands and silks started to get a bit of tarnish on them from the aluminum. So instead of just trying to clean them with anything lying around the house, I thought I'd seek some advice, as I don't want to ruin these with using the wrong cleaner on them (aluminum I know can get dark stains or blemishes on it that are very difficult to remove-). BTW, I was surpised to find so little about these on the Café', but this is a very clever, visual and easy effect (easy in how it works that is- presentaion is still a must and I can see where it would really amaze people if done well). From what little I have managed to read about it, most everyone who is using this feels the same way. Can't wait to use it in the real world! Anyway, suggestions on cleaning are welcome, thanks |

I own this Fine Effect also,(It was givin to me by a friend who didn't know what it was, without instructions also).I'm not sure of the Maker but, mine has never tarnished,...I would suggest maybe some Silver Cleaner or Tarn-x and see what happens or better yet, contact Ickle Pickel on their thoughts.Hope this helps,Mike

Try Simple Green or some isopropyl alcohol. Either of those should work fine.
I hope this information is useful to you. |

Maybe, it would help to coat the aluminum with some Renaissance Wax.

Thanks guys- all good ideas
"Try Simple Green or some isopropyl alcohol. Either of those should work fine." "Maybe, it would help to coat the aluminum with some Renaissance Wax." "better yet, contact Ickle Pickel on their thoughts" BTW- anyone out there use this on a regular basis? Just curious as to your general thoughts on this, how it plays with older or younger audiences, etc. |
