Well the slavers were only acting like a government do.
The slaves are now only relatively free.

Noone cares about modern day slavery. What, 10 million people? 20 million? Whatever. We still have 150 year old slavery to worry about.

For some reason, nobody wants to talk about the several-thousand-year history of slavery. Discourse about 19th century American seems to drown everything else out.
