Volume 2 of Daryl's expert rope magic made easy is in the mail! I was just wondering, what kind of reactions do you guys get with ring and rope illusions?

I do a couple of different ring and rope/string routines and they all get very good reactions. The ones I perform equally often are the Relentless Ring & String Routine by Bob Miller (close-up, and can use a borrowed ring), Still Ringing/Ringing Around Too by Aldo Colombini (Close-up/Parlor/Stage), Ring & Rope from Tabary (Parlor/Stage) and the Eric DeCamps Ring and Rope routine (Close-up/Parlor/Stage).
The most important thing with these type of effects, as with any other magic effect/routine, is proper routining. The phases should all be progressive, visual and without too much repetition of the same penetration/link/un-link. All of the above are excellent in every aspect and are well thought out. I will say the same for the material as taught by Daryl, but I just do not use his routine. He is an excellent teacher and brilliant performer and you will be very happy with that video! When you get a chance, check out the rest of his rope magic videos - lots of great material there. |

I get a great reaction. It is visual and my routine moves along and is played large. "Ring and Rope" is versatile though and can be done Close-Up with just a change of Ring size and a couple of moves.
"Ring and Rope" is fun to practice as well. -Mary Mowder |

I second Eric DeCamps...for some reason, when I work for crowds made up of "intllectual types", the ring and rope routine really kills. It goes over well for other crowds as well, but it never seems to be one of the tricks talked about after the show.
