Imagine that you could send an email to a spectator which includes an image... a prediction... You have her verify the email showed up in her inbox but instruct her not to open it yet. Imagine that you then have the spectator select a card from a deck, at which point you perform your favorite card routine. Afterwards, almost as an afterthought, you say "oh, go ahead and open that email now." Upon doing so, the spectator will see an image of the magician holding the chosen card.
Another effect: You ask her if she has a phone which she can receive an email on. She says yes, so you send her an email and explain that you included an image. She looks at her inbox and indeed sees that she has received an email with an attachment. You then hand the spectator a blank pad of paper and a sharpie. You ask her to concentrate on you first, and then her phone, and then to write down any number up to four digits long (zero to 9,999). Once she is satisfied, you hold up the number she wrote down for all to see, and then you ask her to open her email. Upon doing so, she will see a photo of a pad of paper with the same number written on it. Lets take it even further: You send an email to spectator and ask her to verify she received it, but once again not to open it yet. You offer her a deck of cards and she makes a free choice. You then hand her a sharpie and ask her to draw an image, or a symbol, or word, or a number really big across the front. You then have her put the phone aside and perform the ambitious card routine. After a few phases of your routine, the spectator has probably forgotten all about that email which you sent before the card was even selected. After you are done with your routine, as you walk away, you say "oh, go ahead and look at that email now." When she does, she will see a photo of her selected card, with the same doodle drawn across it! All of these ideas and more are possible with the "Email Wizard" magic app! It's a "stealth" app with over 10,000 outs, and the spectator will never know an app was involved. The prediction images can be of anything you load into the app. Now, image a way that you could do any of the above, and truly NEVER touch your phone after the email is sent. There's a way that you can, with a little help from a friend, and we call it "Confederate Mode!" Submitted to Apple, coming soon to the app store for an initial price of $15.99. James |

This app is excellent! I have most magic apps and this is by far the best one, I honestly wish it wasn't being released. Every single subtlety and nuance was included in it, plenty of attention to detail. I'll wait for its official release to write a review. If anyone thinks this is going to be yet another hyped up app, they're going to be disappointed; you WILL be using this, I predict many good reviews for it. \James has created a real winner here, hopefully it will remain in the right hands.

Well I guess I'll go ahead and respond to this since it is in the public forum for the world to see. Psychic Samurai came up with an effect back around 2006 that uses a similar principle to my app. I hesitate to use the word "method" as mine is an app and his is not so there has to be some major differences, but he tells me that the core principle that makes the magic work is the same. If he says that is the case then I have no reason to doubt him. Up until two days ago I've never heard of his effect, I've never seen such an effect performed by anyone, and I've never seen or heard of any effect remotely similar to mine or his. My programmer had no prior knowledge, my magic friends who helped me with the development have never heard of it or seen it, none of my beta testers ever mentioned a similarity between my effect and any others, and nobody who has bought my app has ever written to me to let me know about a similarity to another effect. Before I started work on my app I did do some research to try and find out if somebody else has anything similar and I didn't find anything. And looking now and I am not surprised I didn't find anything because the descriptions for our two effects are very different.
I came up with the idea for my app independently. I just happened to have the same revelation as Psychic Samurai and created an app out of it. I fully concede that Psychic Samurai came up with his version years before I did. But, the fact remains the first I ever heard of it was in the post he made above. I have no idea what the exact method is for his effect and I also have no idea the routines he has or teaches on his DVD. Beyond the core principle I can't imagine that there are any further similarities. The use of the word "Wizard" in my app name is not a reference to his or any other effect, it is a reference to Microsoft's shortcuts such as "resume wizard" and "spreadsheet wizard" and those kinds of things. Bottom line is I did not use anybody else's creations in my app. I've offered to acknowledge his previous work in my app and/or my iTunes page, as well as change the name to prevent confusion with his effect. So that's what's up with that... James |
