Also, check out Rope Classics on http://www.wildcolombini.com - I highly recommend that and Roped In as referenced by Mary Mowder. Rope Confection is another great DVD from Aldo. Anything you buy from him at $10/USD is a steal, and every single item on that website sells for just that!
Ronald Dayton (KOTAH here on the Café) has a great video made back in the 80s on rope magic, and Aldo also shows an idea by Ronald on the Roped In DVD. Flip and Daryl both have great material as referenced above, and see if you can find any of the old lecture notes by Pavel, which have a ton of great rope material. Another great resource for rope work, by the man many consider to be the best rope magician around, is the rope magic videos of Francis Tabary. There is lots of material on those DVDs, and they suit everyone from the beginner to the advanced rope worker. I hope this information is useful to you. |

Looks like ropes is pretty well covered in the suggestions above. Look to Harry Lorayne for some good card instruction. He is an excellent teacher and cardman.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. Visualize Whirled Peas! |

Aldo Colombini has a few inexpensive rope DVDs on his site that are worth looking into.

Rope Magic: Richard Sanders Fiber Optics Extreme
Card Magic: Michael Ammar (if you go directly to his site the DVDs are half price and the service is outstanding), his instruction is great! I hope this helps. |

Its useful to determine if you are interested in learning a specific routine, or want to learn methods that you can devise into your own routine.
Daryls 3 DVD set is extensive (and relatively expensive), it is mainly methods and short effects. It does however include a nice length routine (Jumping Knot of Pakistan) Specific routines, as mentioned above (Fiber Optics, Loomis, Dances with Ropes..), are good, if that is your interest. BUUUUUTTTT PLEEAASSEE, don't overlook books. Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks, and even Fulve's Self Working Rope Magic are extremely cost effective ways to many methods and short routines. Unlike coin magic, most of rope magic can easily be learned from books. Still, it is always nice to see something performed. For that you can view the many online demos. Chances are high that you will have the method in one of those books. Knots Off; John
