Interesting. And someone else has published a lower receiver- the part that basically holds a gun together.
I question the wisdom of actually using plastic parts like these in a firearm. I've got a 3d printer, I know how strong the plastic is, and it's not comparable to the strength of aluminum. Nor is it as heat resistant. Someone who tried to use this could potentially be injured if the parts fail. Also interesting is how many of the really rude and abusive comments are coming from anonymous posters. Some of us have hypothesized that anonymous posting is in violation of the ToS (literally and in spirit) at Thingiverse and the ability should be disabled.

Do you think that will stop them from trying to regulate it? Keep in mind you can't bring a bottle of water on an airplane, but you can buy many other highly flammable liquids after you pass through security.

Did I once say anything about regulation? I'm not advocating a regulatory position on this- I've got skin in the game. Anyway I was just pointing out that some things shouldn't be fabricated from plastic. On the other hand, there's some higher end printers that use powdered titanium... but the cost of those materials would be far higher than the actual part itself.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting you were saying that. I was honestly just posing the question/pointing it out. The thread title is where regulations are brought up. You pointed out the flaw in using such parts, I was pointing out that such a flaw would not stop people from panicking and trying to "fix" things with regulations.
