I've heard that their are Chinese steel replicas of Morgan dollars but I can't find any listed anywhere; does anybody on here know if there are any for sale anywhere?

I've heard the same from a friend who got some in Chinatown in SanFrancisco but he did not remember the name of the shop. They looked great. They were slightly thinner than a real one but now-a-days I doubt many could tell. This was maybe three years ago.
I'd like a source too. -Mary Mowder |

I had bought some almost 6 years ago while I was working in S.F. The shop in China Town was trying to pass them off as real Morgan's and Peace Dollars. They work but after using them for a couple of years on a regular basis the plating will start to come off and you will be able to see the brass or other metal that the fake coins are made from. I don't remember the name of the shop either but there are a few shops in China Town that sell these.

Silly question, but why in the world would anybody want a replica coin? Especially if there are issues of plating being scratched off. I've got friends who spend serious money on their hobbies: model airplanes, guitars, etc. I never hear any of them asking about replica stuff. Maybe I'm just behind the times or something...

The steel Morgan’s are made of ferrous metal. That means that they can be held-out using a magnet. It also opens a whole realm of possibilities using that simple principle. Ring in a couple in your matrix routine and you can do wonders.
They are simply a different tool for a different use. Bob Little carries them.

Good call, Harry. I've seen them offered online, and they do look pretty good. I think there was/is a seller here on The Magic Café that had some.
For a Miser's Dream, they'd have a better sound hitting the pail than most palming coins, even though they'd be thicker and heavier (more of a challenge?). You'd probably not want to bang up the real deal for such a routine. For close-up, I can see their usefulness as a hidden gimmick, but not so much as a substitution for real Morgans... players perhaps, but not workers.

I have a couple I got from Bob Little at MAES. They look good even laid down beside the real deal. Mine fit into a Morgan shell and using a magnet and the shell I can do a pretty impossible looking coins through table. I'm still playing with them and seeing how to exploit them. I should have bought six of the puppies because as big as life as soon as I need one they won't be avaialble.

NO to the above two. Believe me these replica coins are really great to work with, I've been fooled by some of the routines guys around here have come up with.

Some of the sarcastic posts about sponge balls etc.. Sounds like the same type of people that post tutorials on Y.T. They have no idea of what they are trying to teach nor what is being discussed here.

I got some from Hank Moorehouse, and I believe that Greg Bordner of Abbott's magic is handling the liquidation of Hank's stock of magic so you might contact him.

Why would anyone ever admit, on a public forum, to owning these?
Just a thought.
