I agree lonewolf123 this does have some excellent moves on it and oliver performs them effortlessly my only complaint is the menu system

well honestly something else worries me, most of the move included in this DVD are not that original, including the "original" control of the card to the top (seems to be a reinvention check greater magic)for the palming thanks to the same "move" check dai vernon books , same thing with the color change on the floor, not original (except the use of the "gimmick" but does that make genuine change regarding the other versions?) and the aces routines happens to be a Damien Vappereau trick (no credits at all)...
well okay maybe the moves are KINDA well executed but there is no credit on the tape. of course yo ucan enjoy what is inside but i personnaly think there is no no needs to rave about this tape (or DVD). Much ado for nothing |

I agree that the crediting could be better but oliver will not be the first or the last offender. Personally I am of the perpective of we should aim to credit inventors of creations we wish to share however always looking behind you "as it where" can be deamed a hinderence to the progression of our art. Although I am not personally involved in other arts I would imagine that this type of crediting issue is not so strongly debated, now if we look at our art and others which ones are ahead of the game? (not us)

The reason of my post is the following the entire dvd is meant to be full of "hot" original item it is not the fact, and moreover (i won't talk about the moves) but the fact that he includes damien vappereau routine in his dvd without permission is I think a fraud

Wow this dvd does sound controversial from the way you guys put it, hmm..but I do feel that the material in it is of above average quality.

Actually I wasn't that impressed with the main control ( "WOW" ). The angles from which this looks good are pretty limited.
In the performance setions he uses some large body/arm swings to cover the moves. Some of the colour changes are good. The best part is when David Acer starts translating into French. I can't really make an informed comment about the crediting.
Cheers,
David |

When you say that the angles of the "wow" control are limited and the sleights are mainly covered by his large arm movements, does it mean that it cannot be done with audiences sitting close to you surrounded?..strange, I seem to be able to see oliver marcia doing this real close up and successfully..

On the performance section he's only performing for two people. I don't know what kind of situation he normally performs in.
For "WOW - consider the position of the card. It is in a highly visible position for a large part of the control. The worst angle is to the left. On the left side you have almost no cover - you can't stray much from a head on angle. This is just my experience when playing with the move. Unfortunately, I think this is one move where the camera angles definitely aid in the deceptiveness of the move. On the one card pass control (the trick he uses it in) he does a hugh body and arm pivot from right to left. You could've easily covered a bad pass with that action. That said I do like the idea of the "WOW" control. Only one card moves - unlike the pass. However, I don't think these moves are well suited for performing surrounded. I'll watch it again so I can point out specific routines/ moves.
Cheers,

Darn does this mean this dvd actually is bad?...
so all that being said, is the wow control practical in the real world or only good on cameras?..cause that will really suck if it cannot be performed without pple realising what you are doing as I will like to include it in my ambitious card routine. |

the WOW control has limited angles...if you usually perform surrounded, or even with people in a semi circle in fornt of you, you are pretty screwed. The specs all have to be on your right side or dead ahead in my opinion. So, you can always turn slightly and do it effectively for say 1-3 people, but if you are going to have people on your left, i would say this is not for you. This move is great, and simple, if you are doing it for a few people on your right side. Personally, i think this DVD is worth checking out

I really liked this dvd. With the techniques taught here, you can control a card to any position of the deck. The controls taught on it are great and the routines are nice and flashy. Very visual quick card magic.

I absolutely love the WOW control. The one card pass is also very well done, eventhough I don't think it is original. But Olivier does let you see it done properly. All of the controls are an amazing thing to watch and perform. I've had a lot of fun practising the moves taught on this DVD.

Sadly, I Only liked the first couple of controls on this dvd. The rest of the stuff I thought were pretty useless for me. But it was pretty fun to listen to David Acer dubb over the French to English.
