Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple, has passed away at the age of 56. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Wow...I didn't think the "stepping down" announcement was good news, but I didn't expect this so quickly. An absolute giant of the tech era.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

Just heard this on the radio on my way home. Shocking.

He was a visionary and will be dearly missed. A modern day Thomas Edison and truly a magician.

I was concerned when he stepped down but did not expect this. My wife just told me and I told her she was making a bad joke. He'll be missed.

Very sad. I remember when the Apple Macintosh was first released. I had just landed my first job as a software developer and I was blown away by it and how advanced it was compared to anything else developed for the consumer. The mouse interface, the graphical interface, everything about it was so forward thinking. (Yes, much was borrowed from the Xerox PARC project but it was still the first time to try and make this available to the general public.). From that first Macintosh to the Ipod, the IPhone, and the IPad, Jobs has made contributions to our culture that have changed the way people all over the world live and work. It's sad to think of the innovations we will probably never see that he would have brought to us in the future.

Jobs was a trip. I remember him from the 70's and he was a dynamo. Interesting cat and a major figure in the high tech world.
