Hey all!
I've been playing around with the basic handling and the new handling. I have the second 'delay' down, but am still having problems with the initial one. Basically, as soon as I place the top half onto the remaining deck, it instantly cuts itself, rather than having a few seconds delay like the demos. If anyone has any tips, please PM me as I don't want to expose anything publicly. I have experimented with the supplied items, but just can't seem to get it? Many thanks in advance! Tim |

After comments on the card placement I have been "playing" some more and found by moving the gimmick you can place the card in at the end if you wish. You have to move the other thing as well to one of the opposite corners depending on how you put it in, this would vary if you are right or left handed.
I don't really like this version because the effect does not look as good in my view, even though the card placement in the pack is more logical from a magicians point of view. Essentially I don't think it really matters in performance to a lay audience how the card goes in. Anyway you have another option that some may like. You can also do card rises as well if you think about where you have to move the gimmick to. Here are a couple of videos from today's practice, the movement is a bit slow because I was playing around with the same gimmick for a while. I did not bother to make up a fresh one to make a better video because I did not like the overall effect myself, but it just shows you the Haunted pack you get is capable of a lot more than has been shown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcPuqydEA6o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqrq0ZF50kQ

I still think this effect looks beautiful. I've been experimenting and just enjoy watching it!
Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Mark, Scott and Janet who have very kindly given me some tips. |

I like it! It's well thought out and does generally work well.... I too have a bit of an issue with the initial delay but I assume I will figure that out with a little experimentation.... Tips are indeed welcome though
I think the DVD is well produced and the effect is a great one...it's nice to have a version that doesn't require the regular hook-up we're all so used to messing with..... However, I don't think I will ever stop doing the version I grew up with completely. I've spent a lot of time getting it "perfect"...to stop now However, this version allows one to always have it ready without doing anything except putting the gimmick in place. There it can sit until you chose to bring it into play... nice! Peter has shared some great Magic with us and I appreciate it...... I hope all are having a great weekend! bk |

I really beleive in this trick and I love it. Again a lot of playing around with it but when learning new card trick routines you have to keep practising to get it right its just the same for haunted. Also could anyone pm me where the best place to put the gimmick is for there best results as I'm just doing it by the book at the min.

This trick is good for messing around with but is too unreliable for professional performance.
After much trial and error I have sold mine on.

Really follow this instructions and the extra notes and you will have something you can rely on. This product is capable of so much, I have various ideas I just need time to try them out. Don't be blinkered by what you get and what you are told, you can do all sorts of things with this by changing the set up, understand what you have and what it does and you will begin to understand how it works. When you have the card in the pack look at everything, where it is on the card, the angles of everything, what is in contact with and again understand what actually makes this work. With this information it will help you understand how it all comes together and help your performance.

Professional experience allows one to quickly sort the wheat from the chaff. [/quote] I think it might be better to say a professional will quickly know if an effect is for him and whether it is worth putting the practice in to perfect it?

I too like my "thread" and I certainly don't intend to toss it away. However, I enjoy learning new and different ways to do things and I will use "Haunted" when it suits my purposes. I don't always have Thread, loops etc with me but I always carry a deck of cards... with this method I can always have it ready to go, I like that. As far as reliability goes, that issue tends to disappear with practice, experimentation etc. & I enjoy that part of the process. After all my first attempts at thread work were dismal failures..... talk about unreliable, ugh! However, all that vanished with work..... funny how that happens.
Whether or not Haunted is something for you, only you can say... I like it and I'm pretty sure it's something I'll keep doing for some time to come. Best, Bk |

I have been playing with haunted for a little while now, and I am definitely liking it. I haven't used it in real life yet, but it does look good. Not sure if it will replace the traditional handling, or even the loops handling for me, but its certainly worth learning.

I LOVE working with thread. Been doing so for decades. Given that, I still think Haunted with the Mark Traversoni handling is the best Haunted Deck version to come out. I also like that it takes work to get the knack down. What if it didn't? What if a 12 year old could do it perfect out of the box ( no offense to 12 year old kids because I've seen some that used thread better than adults )?
Great magic should take practice to make it look real. |
