There is a video clip on hocus-pocus.

I have a video of his and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz boring. He may be the master of mentalism, but he is dull.
I think the DVDs, like the Sheridan ones, will be a bust. I hope L&L gets back on track.

The material on these DVDs is going to shake things up. Osterlind tips a ton of great mental magic and mentalism. I don't think these are released just yet but they are coming soon.

It's always great to see reviews of things by people who haven't actually handled or tried an effect, book or video.
I couldn't disagree more with MagicChris. Osterlind's video is jam-packed with usable, terrific material. If MagicChris didn't also get out-of-the-box presentations, it sort of implies that he should come up with his own. On a rare videotape of a mentalist's conclave, I saw Richard Osterlind perform one of the effects on his new DVDs—the book test involving a circled word. Sounds pretty traditional, right? Nothing new here? But Osterlind's handling erases all the weaknesses and turns the climax into a stunner for the entire audience. I think Richard Osterlind is one of the great creators in magic. I've never seen him perform for laymen, but who cares—isn't that our job, to take the material and perform it our way? Cheers, Jerry |

If I buy a car that turns out to be a lemon, should I buy another car of the same make/model?
It's true, I was speculating but it's based on his previous boring video.

Any other comments out there who has actually seen THIS video set? I'm considering purchasing the full set.

I haven't heard anything on these yet. L&L needs to shake the bad press of the Henry Evans and Sheridan DVDs.
Osterlind teaches his center tear on one of the DVDs. I use the one Docc Hilford taught me. I wonder how different it will be. Happy Birthday Magic Café!!!

I ordered it today, they said they wouldn't be available to ship until tomorrow (Tuesday) so I will post a review as soon as I get them.

OK, I had his book years ago, finally sold it. Nothing ground breaking but the ring in balloon was good, but I kept breaking all my balloons. I didn't know he meant a finger ring in balloon, I was trying to get my 5" linking ring in it!!!

I attended one of Richard's lectures years ago. He's a very nice man. A bit shy, but nice. His material is probably excellent, but he's not a natural performer. Kind of like Woody Alan when he did stand up comedy in the 60's.
I wouldn't buy the entire new DVD set. You get a better deal that way but some of these series released aren't that great. You can always find something that is useable but you have to wade through a lot of dull kinda stuff. Mentalism is not that easy to perform. Kreskin is brilliant at it, but he's a great entertainer. Kreskin could read the phone book (and he has) and you're interested. Jeff |

My wife who has seen way too many magic shows thought this was the best she had seen in a long time. L&L had nothing to do with his previous video. That video was done 10 to 15 years ago. Chris, do yourself a favor and get these videos—I guarantee they will surprise you! |

Get them from L&L or Richard himself. Buy three items and you get 10% off the total.

I was at the Magic in the Rockies Convention and Richard KILLED there. These DVDs contain a lot of what he did in FT Collins. I can’t wait for my copies, clever techniques, great stuff...His first video was done a LONG time ago, it's unfair to compare a 20-year-old project to this one.
This stuff is outstanding. doc

David Williamson did his videos in the early 90's and they are as fresh today as they were then. Eason, Ammar, Daryl, you could watch their videos 30 years from now and they would be fantastic.
I'll give the new DVDs a chance, but once I get burned, I'm shy about taking another chance.

I just got these DVDs and think they're very good. He does a great signed torn and restored newspaper that allows you to end clean and handout the newspaper as a souvenir. All of his explanations are very thorough.

Is the Very Modern Mind Reader included in the set?

I too watched him perform at Magic in the Rockies here in Fort Collins and my brain was completely twisted in knots after watching him before the Magazine Test, which is on DVD #4 of this series.
Awesome stuff. I would have gladly paid three or four times what I did to get my hands on these routines. And I can honestly say that after just two days of owning this set (and about 20 hours of eye-grinding watching because I can't stop) I've come away a much better mentalist. Highly recommeneded. The value here to me is huge...and I'm not a newcomer to watching DVDs on mentalism and closeup. Ask me to ditch all but one of my CDs or videos, Mind Mysteries would be the one I hang on to. |
