Fishing for sea bass off the coast in San Diego Harbor what should pop up out of the water behind our vessel?
None other than The Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine The USS La Jolla en route to Naval Base Point Loma.

The township La Jolla is the Beverly Hills of San Diego. Prospect Avenue is the Rodeo Drive of San Diego. I'm a Marine, but be sure to thank a Sailor, if you happen upon one. These men and women work hard on float and below deck!

Critter, I'm glad to hear that Brother. I'm sorry that the rest of his efforts weren't to your expectations. We as parents just make it up as we go along or we revert to what our parents did or did not do for us.

Well there's more to my Dad's story than you probably want to hear.
But I was always proud of the fact that he was UDT, and a very good one from what I hear.
I'd have been a SEAL if the military would have taken me, but they wouldn't. Also a longer story than you want to hear.
Since I couldn't get into the military, but still want to help somehow, I am hoping to do some volunteer work with the VA when I get my advanced degree.

Clinton, I was at an airshow in Mesa,Arizona. They opened the airshow with a remote controlled F-15 jet, flying over our bleachers for a few minutes. We broke out in laughter when we realized how small it was as we had been expecting real aircraft. A few minutes later a lifesize version of the craft performed a stall right over us after an approach from behind our bleachers...Talk about a shocker!
Fun stuff!

I can now honestly state that I've had my act, followed by a U.S. Naval Submarine! It will look good on the ole resume' eh?

I was only about five or so at the time so I don't have my own pic. Here's one I found online of the Blue Angels flying over Seattle though:


My Aunt was working in the Navy ship graveyard across the Sound at the time that I saw them and we were visiting her for two weeks. She's a "nucular" engineer.
This was also the same time period that the Green River killer was all over the news.

I miss hearing it pronounced like this Crtter..."nucular". I wonder what our former commander in chief is doing with his time these days?
