Yes. This event was mentioned in an episode of The Simpsons a week or two ago. Moe played the part of the saloon keeper.

As a child I saw that shirt on display at the reconstruction of TR's boyhood home in New York.

An interesting fellow who did some good work in conservation and reining in some of the more egregious monopolies of his era. However, he was an unabashed war monger--"I should welcome almost any war, for I think this country needs one," and the Spanish-American War, of which he was a major cheerleader and participant, has to rank as one of the lowpoints of late nineteenth-century American history.

He originally lost the Medal of Honor for campaigning to bring his troops home from the Spanish-American war.
He had been justifiably proud of his accomplishments in the initial battles of the war, but grew disillusioned with the conditions the troops were subjected to. His capacity to learn and evolve is another in his long list of merits. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously, the only President in history to be awarded the Medal. TR=Bad Ass.

"Society has no business to permit degenerates to reproduce their kind.... Any group of farmers who permitted their best stock not to breed, and let all the increase come from the worst stock, would be treated as fit inmates for an asylum.... Some day we will realize that the prime duty, the inescapable duty of the good citizens of the right type is to leave his or her blood behind him in the world; and that we have no business to permit the perpetuation of citizens of the wrong type. The great problem of civilization is to secure a relative increase of the valuable as compared with the less valuable or noxious elements in the population... The problem cannot be met unless we give full consideration to the immense influence of heredity..."

Well, tommy, it is well known that the German program for eugenics and the use of euthanasia to eliminate "lebesunwertes Leben" (life unworthy of life) was originated not by the National-Socialist German Workers' Party, but by the German medical profession, and based on principles and programs of the American "Progressive" movement.

The liberation of Cuba from Spanish oppression, and among other things, the eventual peaceful and voluntary liberation of the Philippines (which even the former guerrilla leader and first President of the Philippines Emilio Aguinaldo said was an unprecedented event in world history) - "one of the lowpoints of late nineteenth-century American history"?

I'd say that TR gets negative Hitler points because even though he was a bit racist (as was common for the time) his pragmatism outweighed his racism when he said that regardless of his personal feelings on the black race the right thing to do in the end was only to judge them on their own merits like any other man. And he backed those words up by having the first black guest to eat at the white house and employing several black staff members. Pretty darned enlightened for that time. Was he perfect? No, he was human. But an incredibly courageous and brilliant human being.
Lots of people were interested in eugenics in those days. It was the new science craze. Then that went away and there was the irradiated health tonic craze. Then that went away and there was the vitamin C cures everything craze. Etc., etc. Hitler was also inspired by Nietsche but I don't think Jim Morrison was a Nazi. A weirdo, but not a Nazi. Also, people don't get Hitler points for having one thing in common with Hitler, people get Hitler points for saying that person is like Hitler based on that one thing. "Tommy is composed of atoms, Hitler point!" Doesn't work like that. But Tommy gets a Hitler point because that was a classic Hitler point maneuver.

Thank you for the point Mein Führer.
![]() If I may I ask, do you have a link to your rule book on the Hitler game, Or, do you dictate the rules as we go along? And also, who is keeping score? Hidden Hitler Place middle finger and index fingers together under nose to form a Hitler mustache and raise your arm up like Hitler, point to something or just use it as a greeting, great fun for anyone with a sense of humor, works great in a retail store with coworkers Woman walks in the store and ask's "where are the iPods" http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph......20Hitler Does such count? :)

A Hitler point* is awarded when someone compares a person to Hitler, or a group to Nazi's, in order to condemn them in a political (or religious, economic, etc.) argument. That part is simple. Determining exactly what constitutes such a reference has been more flexible. The premise has never changed. I believe that I have earned four Hitler points for myself. I don't know anyone else's totals. And there is no prize since there are no rounds. *See also, Manson point, etc. Quote:
Hidden Hitler If one were to be harassed by an authority figure and then do this moustache and heil in order to humorously compare that authority figure to Hitler then I believe that would fall within the realm of Hitler point. If done to random strangers just to be obnoxious then I don't think it counts since no one is actually being compared to Hitler.

A. Hitler = The Liar.
I declare an anagram Hitler point.

I declare shenanigans. Again, you have to be comparing a specific group or individual to Hitler. If you say: "A Hitler= The Liar, ex. Roman Polanski is A Hitler," then that would qualify.
Unless anagram Hitler is a new game of your own invention, in which case nevermind and have at it.
