Is this any good? How does this differ from the Tarantula gimmick?
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jwJ2kpc7-g |

Think Hummer card.

I don't want to disappoint you, but this is literally JUST I.T. with a DVD that explains how to use it. They sell this exact kit at malls and other places that you will find kiosks. I met the guy in the trailer years ago (the one with the weird earing things), and he sells this kit along with a sponge-ball kit and a th*mbt*p kit to kids at Universal Studios in Florida.

If you are looking for something along the lines of the Tarantula, this is not for you. I will say that I thought the DVD with this was a very good resource for the type of magic that can be done using this type of gimmick. If hummer card type magic is your kind of thing, I would recommend this.

Hmm, ok just as I thought.
So far, the best one I've tried is the Tarantula. Anyone know of one that is better? |

I do not think that it "just shows a way to use I.T."
I really loved the work I watched. What I watched was not just some levitations but some great floatations that were really smooth and unique. It is very important , at least to me, the fact that the objects do not appear to fly like hanging from a string but have a very magical movement. Except from that if you look closely the image of the product it says "the best levitation device ever invented" as well as that it is "patent protected". this looks very interesting. Regarding the classic question between Fearson's method and tarantula I still can not see the reason this question continues to be repeated. the first one is a hook up the second one is a reel that allows many hook ups even the Fearson's one. I don't know a lot about the moves and set up in tarantula, I do know that it uses a reel, but that hardly explains the routines I see in the demo. It has to do with how you manipulate the thread. I am strongly considering checking it out, however if there is another IT routine/method out there that people are fond of then I would love to hear about it. |

If you are interested in learning about ITR then Centrifugal by Magick Balay is outstanding! I knew nothing about the itr prior to making this purchase. He covers what to do if the IT breaks (and it will). It is a great DVD! It originally taught how to float a spectators wedding band which is a great effect. I am not sure if this effect is in the most recent release. It gets amazing, unbelievable reactions. GREAT DVD!

You can do the Hover Ring effect without Tarantula using the method of Centrifugal. However, Tarantula can do a few things only a reel can do, especially a motorized reel. I bought a Tarantula and was so pleased I bought another one. However, I would learn Hover Ring with Centrifugal first because it is simpler.

I was considering The Levitator also. I know it is probably basic and I have a lot of IT stuff. But there were a couple of effects on the demo vido that does not appear to depend on the position of the magician's head. So I am curious.

I have several videos on IT work ( over 20 ). At the risk of repeating myself, I thought the Levitator by Theater Magic was very well put together. It had some great instruction and would be especially useful to someone getting into IT work.
If you are looking specifically for the Floating Finger Ring, there are several references available including Centrifigal and Tarantula. For a non-ITR floating finger ring effect, you may want to hunt down Terry Lunceford's version. I believe it was a bonus on his "Terry Luceford's Lecture Tape". He may have also released this recently as a stand-alone effect on DVD. |

Hey People- so I know I’m very late to this party, but I just saw a very well-known magician using this to spin and control a card… And it looked unbelievably good. It it truly looked like Real magic —CGI —from a Marvel movie. it will take a lot of practice to get to that level but he uses just the Levitator to do it and it looks amazing so I’m about to buy one….just an Fyi
