By the way folks, I've managed to buy three Princess Mary tins in good condition. If anyone wants one, see me or Jim in The Ruskin.

Interesting fact is Princess Mary's husband George V changed the name of the house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to the house of Windsor!
His relatives fought on the German side!

Markymark, nearly correct; Princess Mary was George V's daughter. She was seventeen in 1914 and created the 'Sailors and Soldiers Christmas Fund'. The purpose was to provide everyone wearing the King's uniform and serving overseas on Christmas Day 1914 with a 'gift from the nation'.
An embossed brass box, based on a design by Messrs Adshead and Ramsey was produced. The contents varied considerably; officers and men on active service afloat or at the front received a box containing a combination of pipe, lighter, 1 oz of tobacco and twenty cigarettes in distinctive yellow monogrammed wrappers. Non-smokers and boys received a bullet pencil and a packet of sweets instead. Indian troops often got sweets and spices, and nurses were treated to chocolate. Many of these items were despatched separately from the tins themselves, as once the standard issue of tobacco and cigarettes was placed in the tin there was little room for much else apart from the greeting card |

Sorry about that I thought both Mother and daughter were called Mary. That was nice of her though,a brass box. After both German and
British 'Royal' families sent 12 million people to their deaths! I think 'Infamy' would be a better title then 'The Fallen' Those who died on both side were victims of evil, victims of empire.

I totally agree Mark, and it's still going on today. Every time a young man is reported killed or maimed in Afghanistan, my blood boils.

I love, love, love this effect. A friend of mine was nice enough to give me some WWI era postcards from his collection, which I've added to the artifacts I show. Considering the large number of soldiers involved, the more artifacts in the pile, the better. Then, I've found a combination of Peter Nardi's explanation of the deck as being "commemorative," combined with Jim Critchlow's introduction of "Psychometry" (spelling?), to be the most successful presentation (granted, I'm a hobbiest, so this is gleaned from only a handful of performances). I was bothered at first by the appearance of the deck...it simply looked too new (now I don't care...and no one has asked). So, I mention that I'm a fan of Psychometry, and this souvenir, commemorative deck from an English WWI battle site was passed on to me by a relative whose great grandfather fought in the war, along with a bag of old pieces parts collected over time relating to the war. Then, the mystery ensues...
Just some thoughts.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I have been wondering if 'The Fallen' will become generally available in the US (via Murphy's, etc.) or only through one or a few sources exclusively. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you!!

I had an idea for Industrial Revelation which uses the topic of war.
(You'll find a copy of what I posted below) I thought maybe with a bit of tweaking of the script there would be a way to combine the two effects IR and The Fallen. (though I realise some may not want to mix the two disciplines in any way) but it's here if anyone wants to use it. Quote:
