Picto-Chango...the Mark Trimble version! The PERFECT effect, works surrounded, any age group, it also has the perfect mix of magic and comedy, without too much of one or the other. Also very visual...moreso than the one currently being made by the originator of this effect, Gene Anderson.

I love the square circle because having watched Johny Thompson, I am learning to think outside of the box as it were. I produce silks and scarves but then I walk to the center of the stage and from the scarves produce a dove. Pretty sweet because the audience loves it and I get a rush also.
I love the silks to parasol as an opener for the dove pan/silk production.
sucker die box is a favorite along with Fraidy-cat Rabbit.
I occasionally do Passe-Passe bottles as a type of comical theme.
I do the drawer box and produce a rabbit.
I love parlor magic, what more can I say?

My very favorite effect is The Lemon Game by Doug Malloy with Switchboard Clipboard and the C & R Rope routine being a close 2nd. For those who aren't sure what the Switchboard Clipboard is, it's very similar to Cardiographic but a much quicker reset and no refills to buy. Yet it has the same effect and also easier to handle than Cardiographic to me. And you give them the same type of signed souvenir as in Cardiographic. Not trying to knock down Martin's Cardiographic....believe me. That's a great effect.. I have it. It's just that I do multiple shows in a row sometimes and have found this much quicker and easier to reset and love the fact that there are no refills to buy. Credit and thanks are given to Martin Lewis for this effect on the DVD because the basic idea is Martin's. And I always appreciate when proper credit is given. But anyway, again, my very favorite effect though, is The Lemon Game by Doug Malloy. It's a great routine and full of comedy and lots of potential to add your own lines and comedy to the basic routine. People always seem to talk about that one the most after my shows. One last mention, I love the Dove's To Rabbit by Chalet. Live animals always get a great response from the audience.

Russell, I was hoping you were going to mention your Chalet Doves To Rabbit. I'm waiting on one, and I'm pretty sure it will become one of my favorite props!

Yes Regan,
I do really love my Chalet Doves To Rabbit. It's a gorgeous prop. Be sure and take good care of it and get an ATA case made for it after getting it because I don't know if George is going to be making those any longer. That's what I understood from the last time I apoke with him anyway. It took a while to get mine though because of George's mother's passing and all the different situations that he had to go through for a while. He ended up having to let his other employees go because of the financial problems that are going on in this nation right now also, and it has really affected his business. So he is making all of the equipment himself now. Anyway, when you receive it, I'm sure that you'll be very happy with it.

Thanks Russell. I am excitedly awaiting my Chalet Doves To Rabbit. I knew going in that I may be in for a long wait but I decided it would be worth it. I sure hope it is.

You are the reason I placed my order when I did, and I thank you for that. I didn't even have my doves at the time. That being the case, I figured I had a little time to wait for George to build me one. Since I ordered it I have obtained 4 doves, and I hope I can raise a few more someday.

By the way, did you have to get a custom-sized ATA case made for yours?

Yes Regan,
I did have a custom ATA case made for mine. I leave mine set up instead of having to set it up everytime. Takes just a little more room to do that but I think it's worth it because of the time saved in setting up shows. So I had my ATA case built for the size of it already set up. (Not on the table base of course but just with the panels on and the top already on it.) There is a guy right here in town that custom makes ATA cases, so he did it for me.

I don't do all my rope stuff in one show but I'd like to.
I know it's not all prop stuff but these are my favorites.

By far my favorite parlor prop is the Mindreading Goose. The routine kills. It has been a reputation maker for me that always gets laughs, amazed faces, and applause. I absolutely love the Goose and so dp all the audiences I share it with. What more can one ask for in a parlor prop?

Thanks for that tip Russell! I'll keep it in mind when I get mine.

My number one favorite parlor prop is the Mindreading Goose. The big advantage with the Goose is the impact of the magic on the audience and the hilarious audience reactions and genuine cheery mood established right there from the start when they see you holding the thing.
