There are several, but I'll list only one here for a special reason which you'll understand.

The effect is the good old Sucker Die Box. I bought it back in the 60's. It's weathered countless performances and with occasional touch-up paint, it's still in great condition.

I bought it with money I got for my 10th birthday. We lived in Southern California and with an ocassional trip to Disneyland, I saved up for my first "major" effect purchase.

The big day came and when I got in Disneyland, I made a bee-line for the Main Street Magic Shop. The same guy who had helped me pick out so many small effects on several previous visit's, took his time as he showed me the handling and his presentation of the Sucker Box. He was both magical and funny. I was a happy young magician as I left the shop with my new effect.

The name of the guy who helped me at the shop? . . . Steve Martin.

I tend to avoid prop-y looking things, but Ton Onosaka's "Lucky Lady" is my favorite parlor prop. Ingenious little thing and fun to perform.
