Hi all,
I have posted this elswhere, but since it is an Ebook I thought some people may like to read about it here. Issue 2 is a belter - and it is on sale now! http://www.lybrary.com/card-shark-issue-p-124511.html Here is the ad - copy to whet those magical appetites! “CARDSHARK” is an exciting monthly card magic digital magazine, edited and compiled by Kyle MacNeill. This is the second issue, and it is being sold for a brilliant price of $2.80. This issue contains 5 tricks from Peter Duffie, Marion Boykin and Kyle MacNeill! Contents 1. Triumphant Sandwich by Kyle MacNeill – This first appeared in the Ebook: ‘Be’. It is a awesome hybrid, mixing and mingling the sandwich plot and Triumph. I think you’ll like this one! 2. Godly Transposition by Kyle MacNeill – This trick first appeared in my Ebook: ‘Out of Hand’. It is a very visual and bold face up transposition in spectators’ hands, that is almost completely hands - off! 3. Forcefield Aces by Marion Boykin – Coin magic heavyweight Marion Boykin delivers the goods in his first published card trick! I am super – proud to be publishing this baby! 4. Morons by Peter Duffie – Bet the name of this one caught your eye! This is a super – charged Duffie classic. Bon Appétit! This first appeared in Peter’s Ebook: Decknology. 5. Between Friends by Peter Duffie – Another amazing card trick from the one and only Peter Duffie. Need I say more? This first appeared in Peter’s Ebook: Decknology. Best wishes, Kyle |

I bought this today, it's quite good. I've long since liked those two of yours and Marion has an interesting ace production, and a couple real good ones from Peter Duffie. All good, not difficult and very magical card routines (effects, tricks..). Can't beat the price, at that.

I enjoyed the Cameron Francis trick from the first issue. I am hoping that you will lean toward less of a reliance on previously released material in future issues.

Thanks for the kind words!
Regarding the material, as someone who regularly contributes to e-zines and regular magazines, I usually lean toward previously published material for a few reasons. First, it's easier on me. You don't get paid to put stuff in magazines, you do it for prestige and exposure. So I like to pick stuff out that not only plays well for lay people but also stuff that has gotten good feedback from other magicians. Second, I know there will be a lot of people who read the magazine who have never heard of me before so for me it doesn't matter if the trick is previously published or not. It's a good way to get my name out there. Having said that, I did put a lot of new and previously unpublished material in my Continental column in The Budget.

I'm a big fan of your work in The Budget (as I am with pretty much all of your material). My comment wasn't meant as a "knock." I have a particularly large library, so perhaps Card Shark simply isn't targeted to guys like me.
Nonetheless, best of luck to you, Jeff! |

Thanks for your constructive comments, Magiguy!
Old and new are both great in their own ways so I'll try and mix them around. You may be interested to know that I will be submitting some new tricks in future releases, and we also have a one man issue from another young creator soon. Thanks though for all your advice, I'll work on it! Best, Kyle |

I like Card Shark 2 for the reasons stated above, one of them being the price. I tend to review things in a postive light since I like practically everything I've seen from Kyle and Cameron. If I read over an ebook I don't like I don't say anything in public, I just private message the person with my comments. I forgot why this was on my mind. Oh well.

BTW, I wasn't taking it as a knock, Magiguy. Just explaining my personal reasoning.

That should have been "Best of luck to you, Kyle" (not Jeff). Glad to hear that it is selling well.

Really happy to have been part of this tremendous effort and to have boarded a ship with an excellent young mate at the helm along with a Master at Sea like Peter Duffie, well you just know you're a part of something special.
In this 2nd issue of Kyle's Card Shark, there's something for everybody and it is most affordable to all and you can't beat that. I have to give great credit to young Kyle as he's doing some solid things in a craft he obviously loves and making some darn good contributions, with the big boys noticing his efforts again and again by helping him on his way. This is wonderful for him and for everybody here really. If you still can't see it yet in this young man, this is a seed destined to grow into a mighty tree one day in the ways of magic and life. I believe in him and all he has to do is keeping doing what he's doing and believing in himself, creating his own magic. Good job Kyle. Just keep moving forward as you're going the right ways. And to everyone else, check out Card Shark now and every month going forward for some great card magic and a tremendous effort from a young lion that will roar loudly through his excellent works and abilities one day for sure.
