Hi,
I'd like to start by saying that perhaps the moderators of this forum should remove me. I'm not a magician, only interested in magicians: I'm filming a documentary about street performance, and have had this forum recommended as a resource by various magicians we've filmed. So, I thought I'd sign up and see if anyone out there is interested. At the moment we've filmed a street magician in Jaipur, Billie Kidd in Edinburgh, and Charlie Caper in Stockholm. That, by the way, was an excellent interview (is it bad etiquette to link to videos I've made?). I recommend looking for it on youtube or vimeo, it's a series of three. Anyway, I hope to meet some lovely street performing magicians, get some online interviews with members, work out a magic competition on our site, and gain some online friends. Do please contact me if you'd like to know more. Oh, and we're filming in South America on the last leg of the trip — our 5th continent. If there are street magicians here from La Paz, Santiago, Buenos Aires or Rio, any advice is welcome! Thanks, Nick

Welcome to the "Our New Arrivals" thread omnigut.
I'd just as soon you stayed in this part of the site and "The Sidewalk Shuffle" (a forum about Street Performing). I wish you luck in making contact with the people you'd like to meet. I've seen a video about Busking and I enjoyed it immensely. I'm not trying to be unfriendly, I just think Magicians speak more freely if lay people are not in the other fora. I do think there are some Street Buskers here who would be interested in your project. (Of course I know there are some lay people in the other fora.) -Mary Mowder |

Thanks Mary, and no unfriendliness felt. I posted in "You Ought to be in the Pictures" forum with Charlie Caper's videos that we shot, and in the "Going for Gold" forum, asking for tips on creating a magic competition:

However, I would like some advice on how to start up a magic video submission competition. We have another competition running at the moment for object manipulation, but I'm not sure which magic companies to approach for sponsorship, nor whether a "street magic" video competition is even feasible, as we've found street magic very difficult to film. Anyway, thanks for understanding, Nick PS, I missed "the sidewalk shuffle" — so many forums here! Thanks for the tip.
