Hello friends in magic,
I am looking for any info on this effect. I have always considered it an interesting concept and would like to add it to my show. I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of different versions of the effect, funny stories about performing this effect, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated as there is very little info about this effect to be found on the net. Thanks so much, Mad Jack |

Ned and Joan Way perform a version of the Passkey Illusion on one of their gospel magic videos, from many years ago. I think the video was called "Sharing the Light".
I assume you're talking about the illusion plan that Paul Osborne drew up, where there is a large box, and a plexiglas sheet is inserted in the middle with a small keyhole shape cut out of it. This divides the box into a top and bottom half. Then the person passes from the top of the box to the bottom of the box, apparently through the small keyhole in the plexi. I think the plans are in the Big Black Book. - Donald

There was also a Palmer (I believe) illusion with a large board and a small keyhole cut in the middle, girl was tied with a rope, and "pulled through" the keyhole.

I love the passkey illusion. Rand Woodbury has a killer idea for it in one of his illusionworks books. I think it takes the concept to a whole other level.

I have always wanted to build this. There are so many possibilities for story lines.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Thank you everyone for all the info. I am building this right now and have a few unique ideas for it. When it's finished I'll post pics and a video.

Hi Chris,
It is sitting downstairs as I type this 2/3 finished. I have been too busy but will have to finish it soon because I will be using it for an upcoming spring tour! LOL... I have some really cool original ideas for mine and am anxious to hear everyone's thoughts! The sideways version sounds cool too! The only one I have ever seen live was an old one made by Bruce Chadwick and I didn't LOVE it but thought that it had some real potential... Anyway, I hope you're doing great and will keep you posted... MJ |

I also built one 25 years ago but I never was able to paint mine. I made it collapsible with pin hinges all over. How will you present this, with a story line or silent act?

I'd like to see a model with thick enough corners on the boxes that you can show the bottom open and have her reach up and wave a hand out the top. Would be a nice convincer
