Hey all--Just a few bits and pieces that may interest you.
There is a play about Houdini in Chicago playing until October 4th. I saw it when it first opened a few years ago and it it great! It plays like a dark psychological portrait of Houdini and is well done. Check it out at: http://www.thehousetheatre.com I came back from Vegas a few days ago--Dixie Dooley's Houdini Lives Show is no longer playing. The Magic and Movie Hall of Fame was shut down 4 years ago but is still listed on the internet. The folks I talked to in Vegas said that Sid Radner will probably be making an announcement in October that he is moving most of his collection from Appleton to Las Vegas. The reason I was given is that he was really upset by the proposed Metamorphosis exposure exhibit planned by the Museum. They will keep only some Houdini artifacts but Sid and the owner of the museum in Vegas will open up a new museum there. I don't know if any of this is true--this is what I heard. Maybe one of you knows more details. It will be a shame if the collection is moved from Appleton but what are you going to do? At least it is still in the hands of Sid Radner and not Copperfield. I just hope that whatver happens the collection will be well protected and cared for and accessible to the public (The Las Vegas Houdini Museum had an original Houdini straightjacket stolen from the display case a few months back). The collection in Vegas is pretty cool--a lot of interesting letters from and about Houdini. In one he says he hopes his brother Nate gets a divorce. In the ones to his brother he still signs them Houdini, not Harry or Eric. Pretty neat stuff along with a Ms. Undina poster and original buried alive poster. |

Schwartz, there is something on the Museum topic already if you look down the page a bit.
He is removing all his stuff starting next month and he has/ will be removing them from his will. Yes, they are still going to expose the meta. X
A direct from text adaptation : The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde Starring Mickey Rooney in his final role.

I'm sorry to hear about Dixie Dooley's show closing. He did a pretty nice milk can escape and the theater lobby had a nice Houdini display including one of Ian McColl's all metal strait jackets as featured in the Tony Curtis "Houdini" movie from the 1950's. I'm glad to hear that the Houdini Museum in Vegas will be expanding it's display with some of the Radner collection. Now I have one more reason to return there for a visit. Regards to all.
