I am looking to make myself a loading bag (for a rabbit hand puppet and silks) to be used during a performance of the classic rabbit in a hat. Anyone have any advice for construction? PM me if necessary.

You can find your answer in Tarbell Course in Magic Vol. 3 or one of the Duane Laflin Silk DVDs. Tarbell actually shows the construction of the load bag. I know Duane has a way of producing a rabbit puppet.

For a rabbit puppet, unless it kicks and rips with its claws, you are safe making the bag one of the load silks, and then producing the bag as one of the production silks after using it to load the rabbit puppet. No need for black in that case - make the silk the same color as your costume or cape.

Don't use rip stop nylon! Breathing can be a problem. Some rabbits will faint easily.

Rabbit puppets don't usually have that problem, Bob. They are more frightened of being exposed for the frauds that they are.

Spellbinder,
LOL Have you seen Lucy's act with the fake rabbit. She's the doctor and he has a ED problem. (Something apparently very rare in male rabbits.) Bob |
