Hi All,
I recently purchased a Schoolcraft gravity flipper on the second hand market. The flap is not openning as smoothly as a gravity should and I have been reccommended to dismantle the coin, seperate the hinge from the coin, clean it and then put it all back togehter. I have heard previsouly the Jamie provided a link that had a video instruction on how to replace the band that he sent to customers. Was wondering if anyone could PM that link, I can provide proof that I have a JS coin if necessary Thanks Baobow |

Make sure to use an Exacto Knife to get the inside piece out. If you try taking it our with your fingers you may pop the top piece off of the bottom half of the insert. If you need the link still let me know and I can send it to you as I have it on my server with approval from Jamie.

Before using a knife (and risking potential damage to delicate pieces of engineered coin) Marcelo Insua (Mr Tango) suggests using a few drops of neat alcohol to loosen the glue and separate the parts - instead of just simply prising the pieces apart a blade. This is also perfect for removing any old dried glue and subsequently providing a clean surface for the refit.
Never tried this myself to be honest as I don't use a Flipper - but it seemed to work just fine when he demonstrates some minor surgery in his workshop section - as shown on his Tangopedia DVD.

Jamie does not use glue he uses double stick tape but if you use alcohol it probably won't hurt. Just get the exacto knife in the center and don't force it just slowly pry. He also advises using an Exacto knife in the "Care and Repair" video. I have fixed many a gravity flipper and the Exacto works best.
