I just received an email letting me know that my rabbits have given birth to four baby rabbits; after thinking about what to do with all the babies, I am working on a routine of producing four rabbits at the end of my performance.

I was thinking of using different props, moving from one to the next I now start by performing by doing the bigger wand and Bunny Box where I finally produce a rabbit; then adding to the routine by moving to the slide box, showing it empty, then with a rabbit, and a rabbit pan, a balloon to bunny and ending the show by having the kids sit in a circle and allowing the rabbits to be petted

What do you guys think?

Years ago when I had two young small kittens, I use them in my show. I would show the Mirror Box empty. I would put a rabbit in my Duck Bucket. I openen the Duck Bucket to show the rabbit was no longer there. I would re-open the Mirror Box to show the transfer. Of course both kittens were identical.

I am going to try the rabbits as soon as they are old enough to leave mom, it takes about six weeks to mature to that point

Chage a rabbit from BIG to small or small to BIG.

Use Rabbit grow.

Or change a black rabbit to white with rabbit cleaner.

I've see the above routines over the years.

Thanks for the sugestions,

"change a black rabbit to white with rabbit cleaner"

my rabbit mom and pop are white, so the little ones are all white.

Wizardpa is performing the change a rabbit from small to BIG; and from what I understand he performs it with great success.

I will keep an older rabbit, use it with the younger rabbit and try it out

I have never heard of a magician producing more then one rabbit, it would be an exciting experiment to see how multiple rabbit productions would go over in a show. If the productions can look mystifying as in bird productions it may be a good idea to pursue.

I think the secret is in varying the type of productions used to produce a rabbit. Richard Hughes makes a very good live stock item as does Abhott's Magic. It would be good to see if the productions can sort of create a build, ending in the classic production of a Rabbit from Hat like Alan Shaxon performs out in the isle of a theater among the audience members.

You might want to look into the Floating Rabbit in the book of Tony Marks Aristocrat of Deception, makes for a great climax. He also does a Rabbit from a number of silks.

Work the rabbit size change in reverse... Full size rabbit goes into a "rabbit washer"... and shrinks in the wash.

We often produce more than one rabbit in our shows.

We would sometimes use various methods of appearance and vanishes to create the illusion that the rabbit was being magically moved about on stage. Other times, we would use one of our props that we built for producing multiple rabbits. The multiple productions work well for us.

Thanks for the suggestion but the rabbits were all born together so they will be the same size

I have been working with two rabbits until now. I made a rabbit appear, then placed the rabbit in a box to have him disappear and I would have him reappear in another box across the room; now that I have four rabbits, I am looking for something different.

I plan now own a rabbit box, a square circle, a slide box and I am thinking of using a plain box that has been sitting on a shelf the whole show

I don't know yet, I am looking for other suggestions

I am keeping the mom and dad rabbits in seprate cages now

I used to work with three rabbits, a black, white and dutch (black & white). My shows were adult-oriented so the bunnies were blown up, sawed in half etc. One thing that I used to do for the rare family oriented show was to perform the old rabbit explosion sponge routine early on. Then as an encore, explain that magicians aren't supposed to repeat tricks but that I had done everything I knew. I'd start the multiplying sponge rabbits again, but end with the three real rabbits. I think the rabbits enjoyed the break!

My rabbit selling program has slowed, unfortunately, my rabbits production has not slowed, so I am putting together a routine that will produce 7 rabbits.

Let me know when you hit 50 rabbits...

On a more serious note, I know you went through the USDA licensing process. Is there a 5 rabbit limit and did you have to get some kind of special extension or rider?

One of my rabbits was injured in his cage when he got entangled by the litter box; he broke his back and his rear paws are paralyzed and he drags himself around the cage by his front paws; I can’t use him in shows anymore, but I as long as he is not in pain, I will feed him and make his life as comfortable as possible.

I feel terrible about this and replaced all the cages I had with wire cages constructed with vinyl covered floor wire for paw comfort and trays under the cage to catch the droppings.

This has solved the problem because nothing is in the cage to harm the rabbits, food & water hangs outside and the droppings pass safely to the tray keeping the paws clean;

here are photos of my new setup.
