I need some help with this. I am looking to produce only one dove. I am looking for one that is just a black picture at the start. I only know of the Lipan frame. is this the better quality frame? any help would be appreciated. Mike

I have the one with the branch on it. It only holds one dove. I would not picture so much of a difference when it comes to quality. I wish the one I have came with a locking device. I do not know if any are made that way. And the one I have comes with a picture with a bird painted on the branch for the start. I did not want it that way, so I took it to a airbrush shop so he would remove it by painting over it. I put a flat dove shape felt on the frame. Next thing it is real. The real problem is the mess it will leave on the wall of the frame during set up time.

The Lipan Frame has a locking position. I load the birds right before the curtain opens, put the frame in my table or prop it up on something, and then ready to go.

I'm thinking about getting a dove frame also. You guys have made me think of some ideas!
Regan Posted: Dec 12, 2011 3:12pm What other Dove Frames are available? Which is the best quality? The Lipan Frame sounds good, but I think I would prefer to produce only one dove. The Lipan Frame only comes with 2 doves in the picture, correct? With a picture of 2 doves, I don't think producing only 1 would work. Thoughts? Dynamike, what dove frame do you have and where did you get it? Posted: Dec 13, 2011 10:10am IDOTRIX, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I got some ideas and then got excited with my own inquiry. Anyway, during my search I discovered a dove frame called, "Dove Picture To Real Dove" by Tora Magic that looks similar to the one you describe in your first post. It has a black background, with a single dove on brown tree branch with some green leaves.

The original Lipan Dove Frame was made by Julio Lipan. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago so he no longer makers them. There is one model that is currently being sold as a, "Lipan Dove Frame", but I have been told it is nowhere near the quality of the originals. Mind you, I have not seen one for real, but some reliable sources gave me the scoop. It is built to look like the original Lipan model, and even has the same graphics, but I was told the quality is not even close to the original.
I was lucky to find a used, original Julio Lipan Dove Frame in mint, pristine condition. I am really impressed with the quality. It works so smooth, and is built very sturdy. I would suggest trying to find an original Julio Lipan model if you can.

Besides Siam magic anyone else make these???
Would prefer the original production and not some cheap knock off. Has anyone bought from Tora??? the reviews on him don't look good .... someone had dealings?

I owned the silver cage, which works and looks good in the beginning, but compressed-cardboard (instead of jut using real wood or iron or something) will just break apart after intensive use. Also the dove origami looks good from a distance. But all is made in plastic, the lid has been taped to it. The plastic stand is a joke. My prop allready broke apart before I could even use it. There is an other dealer That used to makes things for tora, also in Iran. I have not dealt with him yet, (black magic company) on his site I also found a dove frame. I cannot tell anything about the quality. unfortunately there are no prices. Also before buying this kind of prop I would anyway like to see a video of the effect. As the transformation should go fast enough. And you cannot tell that from a picture. |

Interesting fact I just learned -
Rich Marotta built his dove frame and he never put it on the market. After he appeared on the Statler Brothers show, somebody else put the dove frame out there. |

Thanks Nak. Someone posted a Rich Marotta with the Dove Frame on another thread and when I saw the clip I thought it was probably a custom-made Dove Frame. I have seen one other one that looked similar to Rich's, but it was a little different, and I think it was a one-of-a-kind piece also.
